I just read on another forum that the Escape package is going down in price by $500 HOWEVER the bride and groom will no longer get APs.

Starts with bookings made Oct 1, so if you're thinking about doing Escape within the next 8+ months (I guess through weddings May 30, 2016), now is the time to make contact and get the contract signed if you want the APs.

Major blow here. If we were still planning Escape for our October 2016 wedding, I would definitely be looking at Just Marry at the Swan/Dolphin or other options.

We have just got an email from our consultant about this change. We are booking for 2nd June 2016 so we are only two days out! I'm so disappointed! APs cost about $700 each so when you factor that, even with the package reducing by $500 it still means the overall package costs $900 more with nothing in return!!

That really sucks that they can't extend it to couples who have already made contact prior to the announcement. I mean, it would only "cost" them a month more since contact for Escape can only be made at 9 months, and booked at 8. Bad show on Disney's part if you ask me.

Is there any chance you can move up your wedding by a week? Or even a few days? I know travel plans have probably already been made so that may not be an option. But that really sucks. I'm sorry this has happened to you as you are literally 2 days too late.

We are arriving 1st June so couldn't go any earlier than that. It's so annoying!

Wow, that's awful timing. Wouldyou be open to the idea of the Swan/Dolphin or Downtown Disney locations? You could save a pretty penny going that route. Since you haven't signed with Disney yet, it's something to think about. If you do decide to switch from DFTW, make sure you tell them that dropping the APs from the Escape package was your motivating factor. I'm sure they are trying to motivate people to bump up to Wishes, but I'm guessing this will have the opposite effect and they may lose couples altogether.

Is anyone else having this problem? We had really made our mind up about Escape and the venue, etc. I'm not sure that we would want to change now.

Are the APs something you were planning on using a lot? If you're only going for a week and weren't going to make it back within a year it wouldn't be as big a deal to me. For me we planned to stay 3 weeks and the lack of APs in the package would have forced us to buy them or take a very different trip.

Yes, we would have used them as we go every year for 2 weeks. Our tickets usually cost about $900 (for both of us). We were planning to visit twice in the same year to make the APs even better value. It's just a shame as it feels like the price has gone up for us as we are losing those future savings.
Disney aren't willing to make any exceptions to the rule - I thought I'd ask, just in case!

That really sucks! I would probably be re-thought our decision if the APs weren't included... We probably would have still gone with Disney but it might have convinced me to move to Disneyland which is closer for us and includes a plated meal but has never included passes. Not that that helps you now. If it's WDW you want maybe look at S&D or other nearby locations for a cheaper option that will help offset the cost of your tickets.

Aw man that stinks.

Our wedding is in 28 days so we do get the annual passes which were a nice perk. However, I don't think it would have really factored in for us either way. We live so far away that the chances of taking another trip are extremely slim so the park tickets we would need for this trip only work out to about $250 more than we are paying with the AP's included. Still, $250 is $250 that we are planning to spend at the food and wine festival but I don't think it would have been a deal breaker.

Plus, I can use the AP's to suggest DFi into taking another trip in the year. I doubt it will work but you never know.

For me the annual passes were just a bonus to the package. We went back and forth on Memories vs. Escape. Once we decided on the Escape, the AP's weren't really an issue for us. And honestly, I would be the only one getting use out the AP anyways since my husband travels a lot. And technically, you're actually paying for the annual passes in the cost of the Escape package if you break it all down.
