Hi,
Well reading all of these journals has inspired me to do one also. Hopefully it will help! I'm 28 years old have 2 kids ds4 & dd6 and have been married almost 8 years (to a thin/fit guy who can and does eat anything  )
I now weigh 138 pounds and I'm 5'4. I have lost about 15 pounds about 1 year ago and just have not been able to get back on track. I quess I'm lost on how I want to diet. A few years ago I did adkins and it worked great the 1st time but not since (even when i do it right). I think I may just try to journal and see what happens?! :confused3
My main problems are
1. I will eat good all day then when I have to cook a yummy dinner for the family I too eat it. I just HATE making 2 dinners!!! Also I don't snack at night but I will pick at the leftover of dinner as I'm cleaning up. ( Iwill journal it when I do)
2. I barely drink water
3.I need to work out more.
I just had surgery a few weeks ago and I am feeling really good so NO more excuses
Please any support or criticism will be helpful
B-1 egg 1 toast w/ butter 1/2 sausage
L- 1/2 hotdog (at a party) a few cheetos diet pop
s- 1/2 pita bread hummus 1/2 tomatoe
d- Italian sausage no bun tuna noodle salad, diet pop
1 Big glass of water
Dinner left overs -3 cut up pieces of it. sausage 3-4 bites of tuna salad
Work out -2.5 mile ( 40 min) uphill (5-6 incline) on treadmill & arm push ups (using a chair)
I know bad diet (I'm really going to start tomorrow) but I wasn't planning on journaling BUT i am proud of my work out 1st one since surgery!!!!

If you read this LONG thing thank you and all the rest will be much shorter I promise!!! :sunny:

Welcome to WISH! :welcome:

You are almost my twin! Currently I am 137 @ 5'4".

Some tips that have helped me along - drink tons of water! Try to drink a glass with every meal. And get some fruit and veggies in!

I also have 2 kids, but I only make 1 healthy dinner for everyone. And if they don't like it, TOO BAD, that is what we are having. I make a lot of baked/grilled chicken breast w/a steamed veggie and a carb (brown rice, sweet potato, mashed potatoes, etc).

I used to be a "preparing dinner snacker" and I am finally getting out of that bad habit. Eventually you will get out of the "post dinner snacker" mode!

I also had a surgery at the end of March and am just getting back to "normal". Just listen to your body when you are working out and don't overdo it! I am hosting the May Exercise Challenge. Are you signed up yet? If not, check it out, it is really motivating to watch those minutes add up!

You are going to do great! :cheer2:

Amy

Welcome to WISH!

You can do this and we'll all be here every step of the way. One day at a time. Start over as often as you need!

Have a great week ahead!

Thanks Lovinaz and goldcupmom I really think I will need the extra push this time because I have dieted and worked out on and off over the last 1 1/2 years and have not lost ANYTHING. I'm trying to tell myself that I'm doing this to be healthy but I really want to drop some pounds!!!! It doesn't seem to matter what I do I don't lose or gain weight. :confused3 But I AM going to this time.
Lovinaz, we do sound a lot alike. I did sign up for the may workout, thanks. Have you recoved well from you surgery and back to being able to work out at the speed you want? I know that I need to drink water infact I'm going to put that in my journal. I really wish I could make 1 healthy meal every night for all of us but my Dh can't stand chicken more then 2X a week. We do eat pretty healthy but he has to have those mexician nights and italian sausage, or something else fatting. I did really good not eating any dinner leftovers. I came up w/ the simple solution that everyone has to clear their plate and my DH can clear the food while I clean rest of the kitchen.
Well here goes todays journal. Tommorow will be beter I ran to the market and got a few things so i have some better choices.
B-1 french toast w/ syrup, 1/2 sausage,1/2 egg, O.J (8.5 pts)
L- got a small icey (very busy day) (3pts?)
D-burger (groung sirlion) tomatoe spag. salad ( I did make a light version for me)1/4 cup baked beans, Diet soda (14.5 pts)
Total 23 pts
Workout- none, my inlaws just left to tired :sad2:
Water-- I going to get a big glass now I promise!!
Thanks again guys!! Good luck to you this week.

Hi there and welcome to WISH!!!

You are doing great..have a great plan...I know you can stick to it. It's like Julie said, you can start over any time...today is a new day!!! Make sure you get that water in...

Hope you are having a great day!

Happy Monday :)

Congrats on making a lighter version of dinner for yourself. There are little things you can do like substituting ground turkey for ground beef. I use it for tacos, meatloaf - pretty much everything. There are lots of healthy things to make that are not chicken. Check out your local library for some low-fat cookbooks to get some ideas.

Have you tried Egg Beaters? They have 0 fat and they are pretty good. I also use them in any recipe that calls for eggs.

You can get that water in today! Once you start drinking it all the time, your body will crave it. :goodvibes

I have been stuck at the same weight for about a year now. But I know that I have gone down in body fat %. So instead of a weight loss, I am now focusing on body fat % loss. My goal is to get to 15%. Take measurements, that way you will be able to see progress even if the scale isn't moving. Whatever you do, don't get discouraged and don't give up! :cheer2:

Okay I think today went much better (except that I stepped one the scale and gained a pound) So I am considering this my official start day @ 139.
Thanks guys for incouraging me to drink the water it's weird how much it helped. I'm not drinking what I should but I did much better.
Amy- this may sound dumb but how do you measure body fat %? I remember hearing it before, I just don't remember. I can't even remember if it is something I can do or if I have to have it done.
Well here goes todays journal
B- life cereal w/ 1/2% milk & strawberries (3pts)
s- 1/2 serving of Lf cheese nips (1.5)
L- Turkey sandwich w/ FF cheese (4)
s- little debbie PB&J oatmeal sandwich (oops 3pts)
d- 1 & 1/2 chicken fajitas (8), diet pop
total- 19.5 pts
Water-48oz & working on the next 16oz
Workout-40 min (35 min on tread @ 6 incline @ 3.5) 5 min cool down and push-ups.
I planned on doing more of a work out but my legs started to feel a little like jello :confused3 The other day I did 45 min. But like i said, just starting out again after surgery I better listen to my body. Plus I don't want to be hurting so much that I cant work out for the next few days.
I did do better ant not picking @ the leftover dinner as I cleaned, I just had a couple pieces of green peppers. My simple solution didn't work that great.
Even though they all cleaned up the plates my Dh & kids all took off as usual to go outside. Oh well, it's finally been nice and warm here I hate to make them stay in.
Well thanks for reading and everyone have a good day tomorrow. :sunny:

Hi there,

Good for you for not snacking too much after dinner...it will take time but you will get there!!!

Your food looked good! Keep it up

Happy Tuesday :)

Great job yesterday! At least you ate green peppers and not the heavy stuff. Have you tried chewing gum while you are cleaning up? Or brushing your teeth right after dinner, before cleaning up? That might help.

I bought a body fat measurer. You measure 3 places (arm, stomach, thigh) and it figures out your percent body fat. You can also get it done at the gym if you belong to one.

35 min on the treadmill is great! I rarely do cardio for more than 35 minutes (except when I am taking a class). You are off to a great start. Don't let the scale discourage you (believe me, I've been there and it is NOT worth it!)

Hi there,

Just wanted to pop in and say hi

Hope you are having a great day!

Keep up the good work :)

Well yesterday I kinda blew it but it was my B-day so those calories don't count!!! I was doing good untill they brought out the B- day cake at work and the worst part is that I'm not crazy about cake. I make them at home all the time because i know i will never want to eat any. But of course I had to have some!! Then my friend called and insisted on taking our kids for a bit so DH and I went out and had wings an a couple of beers. It was nice we haven't been out just the 2 of us in FOREVER, so I guess that was worth it. I'm just bummed because I planned on doing very good all week because we are going out to eat on sunday w/ my family for my B-day and I wasn't going to feel bad about not eating good. Oh well!! Well any ways here is how the last 2 days went
Tuesday:
b- cereal & milk (2pts)
L- leftover chicken and peppers (2)
Cake
D- 5 wings (no breading, does it matter) 1&1/2 beers
water- about 36 oz
work out- none

Today-
B-handful of dry cereal & 2 strawberries - we were running late (1)
s- 4 corn chips 2 apple slices (1)
L-1/2 turkey and ff cheese sandwich, cooked peppers and tomatoes, 1 pickle (3)
s 1 cracker, 1 thin slice of turkey meat, 2 apple slices (1.5)
D- pork loin, rice, green beans and a salad (7)
Total 13.5
water-66 oz
Work out- 50 min ( 45 tread 5-6 incline @ 3.3-3.5) 5 min cool down and push ups.

Oh, amy where would i get one of those body fat measuring devices and how much do they run? Thanks

Happy belated birthday!!!! :bday: :cake: Don't worry about having some cake. There will always be special occasions and there is no reason not to indulge a little, as long as you get back on track the next day.

Here are the digital body fat calipers I bought:

http://www.quickmedical.com/calipers/digital.html

They also have non-digital ones for about $20. I am bummed because my measuring tape broke. I have to get a new one!

Great job getting that workout in, keep it up! :cheer2:

Hi there,

Happy Birthday :bday: a day late!!!

You did okay on food...it was you birthday...you need to treat your self to something.

Hope you are having a great day! Keep up the good work!

Happy Thursday :)

Well today was a pretty good day. The only unexpected thing was a mom of a child from my class ( I teach Montessori preschool part-time) brought in very yummy muffins for a good bye party. I had a SMALL bite of a chocolate chip rasberry one and about 1/4 of a pineapple one. I had to have the other teacher take them upstairs so I wouldn't be tempted to eat anymore because they were SOOO GOOD! I was able to make up for it at dinner because DH is working late so I didn't have to prepare a full meal. I was surprised at how little points I had today. :sunny: I do still need to get in some more water tonight.

B- cereal w/ milk (2.5)
L- peppers, tomatoes, onions steamed in L.F italian dressing, 1/2 pita w/ hummas and tomatoes (3)
S- 1/2 of a muffin (3)
D- 1/2 of can of tomatoe soup, sm salad, turkey sandwich w/FFcheese tomatoe, lettuce &onion, Diet pop (6.5)
TOTAL- 15 pts
water- so far about 50 oz
Work out- 50 min (45 tread 5.5-6 incline @3.3-3.5) 5 min cool down (oops just relized I didn't do push ups I will before the night is over!)

As you have quessed I am doing the WW diet (I have not joined just doing it on my own) If any one else is doing it, here is a little inspiration. I talked to a friend that has been doing it and has lost over 40 pounds!! She started at 220 and is still losing 2 pounds a week!! She has not joined either. She also stopped doing it over Christmas and though she didn't lose any she didn't gain any back. Hope this has inspired someone to diet a little longer I know it has me!! Everyone have a great night.

Okay, I'm giong to need a few prayers today for fighting temptation!!!! I have to bake 2 kinds of cookies, brownies and a cake or two for a calk walk at the relay walk for life. Plus it is PMS time and I want CHOCOLATE. But i just stepped on the scale and lost 2 pounds. So I will try to tell my self everytime I'm tempted to eat that warm fresh cookie that it will cost me my 2 pounds!!! Hope it works!! I know that if I do eat it I have to report it and that will mean that in my eyes I failed and others will know it and I won't like that. So here it goes, wish me luck. THANKS.

Good Morning,

congrats on the loss!!! That is wonderful!!!

You are going to resist the goodies....I know you can do it!!!

Great job on your eating and workouts!! keep up the good work!!!

Have a great day

Cookies are tough to resist. Did you survive? I've found it helps to chew gum while making that kind of stuff, or else make a flavor that I don't care for.

Let us know how it went! :goodvibes
