Day 3-Monday, December 8, 2003
Players:
Me (31)
DH (33)
Courtney- DD (7)
Nicholas- DS (14 months)
Mickey woke us up early again today. It's funny how I am getting less sleep on my vacation than I do at home having to work 40 hours per week.
This morning we are off to AK. We had a late PS for Donald's so that we could take full advantage of EMH. We headed first to Kilimanjaro Safari, like the rest of the herd. Not a long wait at all. The kids and I rode Triceratops Spin (twice per DD's request) and then DD and DH rode Primeval Whirl. DH and I took turns riding Dinosaur by ourselves. I can't tell you how much I love this ride. It is one of my very favorites- the theming, the being-thrown-around, and the darkness- LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!
Okay, time for breakfast with Donald. OMG, I could not believe the line to check in. While DH was checking in, our name was called....okay, I'm confused. Anyway, we were seated and brought drinks (drinks were already poured in cups sitting on a counter- MMMMM...room temperature milk
) DH told me to go get some food while he stayed with Nicholas. DD and I went to the cold bar first and I got a plate for myself and another plate to tide DS over until he got hot food in a minute. Then I saw it.............the line at the hot food buffet.....And I thought the line for check-in was bad. DD and I got in line and waited, and waited, and waited. I started thinking about poor DH stranded by himself in a restaurant with a baby who likes to eat and has NO food. I asked DD if she would run the cold food to our table. No. Then I told her that I would be right back and to wait here- she could save our place in line and I would be back in a minute. No. She was petrified of the fake fossils around the restaurant. A nice lady overheard us and said she would hold our place. Food delivered and back in line. I got food for all of us so that we did not have to stand in the long line- I got everything quickly so as not to hold everyone else up. I just don't think this is a good set-up if it is crowded. The omelette station seems to hold everyone up, even those not getting omelets. We kind of wanted seconds of the hot food, but did not want to endure that line again. All DD ate was a couple of croissants off the cold bar and DS wouldn't eat any eggs since we started him off with sweet stuff off of the cold buffet. The food was pretty good, but took too long to get. Plus DD's irrational fear of fossils.
After breakfast, DD wanted me to ride PW with her. I don't do roller coasters but figured I could handle this. No problem! Back to Dinosaur for one more ride. DH stayed with the kids while I rode (DD is afraid of fossils so she wants nothing to do with dinosaurs). DH laughed at me because on the TV screen where they show your picture, I was smiling really big right at the camera because I remembered where it was- I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille). Then he went while I took DD to the Boneyard. Nicholas had fallen asleep in the stroller so I hung out with him for awhile. Courtney was dying to try to win one of the carnival games. She played once and DH played once- not even a consolation prize- LOL! We then walked the treks. It was getting late by this point so DH said he would stay with Sleepyhead while I took DD back to PW. Now here's the bad part- I should have taken my 2-way-radio off before getting on a coaster. I lost it. And Dang it, just as I was starting to have fun pretending to be a truckdriver in the 1970s! Okay, one more time on PW and then we left the park.
We decided that DS was getting his naps in the stroller so we would skip the afternoon breaks in the hotel. Besides, we had to get to Epcot. We had a late lunch/early dinner PS at Teppanyaki.
We arrived at Epcot with enough time to do one ride so we rode Spaceship Earth again. Then we hustled over to Japan. We enjoyed this as always. Our chef was great! She made a volcano out of sliced onions and then poured something in the whole to make it look like it was smoldering. Then she made a Mickey out of it. She asked DD if she liked "Finding Nemo" and so then she made the shrimp move and talk. The chef was very nice and put on a great show. The food was also very good. We are not big on vegetables, but we loved the steak, chicken, and rice. We will definitely return!
We decided to take the monorail to MK for Spectromagic since this would be the last night it would be shown during our trip. We looked around some of the shops and then headed back to the hotel.
We went to Mara for a snack. Cookies and Nesquick- my favorite
We enjoyed watching the old Mickey cartoons while we ate. Its funny the little things you really enjoy on vacation.
Back up to the room to pack. We were checking out in the morning and checking into WL. I hated to leave this beautiful hotel, but was excited about WL.
Coming up,
MGM, 50's PTC, LTT, and MVMCP
