To Start you off with your equipment thread. Here are some basic questions one must ask when thinking about new equipment. Hopefully others will add more.
1. What Type of shots do you usually take
2. What Type of camera do you have now, and in the past
3. What shots does your current camera not allow you to take
4. What is your budget
5. What size camera are you looking for ie pocket size to need a truck
6. What are your plans for photography ie just want pics of the kids or what to make it a strong hobby or profession
7. Are you willing to put some time into learning how everything works, or do you just want to shoot and let the camera figure it out
8. Do you want to deal with multiple lenses external flashes etc
With these questions answered, good advice can be given
