Does anyone own a Chevy Equinox or Pontiac Torrent?? good, bads and uglys please and thank you!!

We just bought an Equinox and we LOVE it. The backseat has tons of leg room, it rides very nicely, it's big enough but not so big that it feels like you're driving a bus. It's pretty good on gas, as far as SUVs go. We have only had it a month but so far so good.

I've had an Equinox since they came out... you can thank me for working out all the bugs in a first year car!! ;) Even with the problems I've had, I LOVE the Nox!!! Can't beat the backseat room, love the car platform(I hate climbing into an SUV) and I've never had a problem getting through snow(I have AWD).

You can read everything you would ever want to know about the Nox here:

We bought an Equinox a few weeks ago, and we love it. I think they are great cars and there is plenty of room for the boys in the backseat. My sister has had one for over a year and she hasn't had any problems with hers at all.

They are both made in the same factory so I guess whichever you gets the best deal.

We test drove both of them yesterday, and they are both about the same interior and pep. I think we are leaning toward the Equinox because of the dealership that we have bought from in the past. The dealership that had the Torrent was a little pushier than I like. Thanks so much for all the input!!

I have an Equinox and love it.

We were living in souther Virginia when we found out that we'd be moving to the DC area. At that time, my car had only the required airbag. Nothing else. I tld DH that I needed something with ABS and better protection if we were moving to this area. The Equiox is what we settled on.

I've been in two accidents since getting it and was at fault for neither of them. Go figure- the exact reasons I wanted it. Equinox comes out with minor cosmetic issues. Other cars, not so lucky. The thing is a tank. Both times, the drivers of the other vehicles said, "Wow. I think I'm getting one of these for my next car."

The tell all for us was when we were test driving it. We took it out to the back streets behind the dealership- lots of stop signs. I took the thing up to about 35 mph and braked maybe 10 feet before the stop sign. Whatdaya know- I stopped on the line. I did hat a few other times in empty streets. I love that I know I can go from 60 mph to a stop real quick if I need to. Doesn't feel great, but it's better than careening into something.

She handles beautifully, is super quiet, awesome leg room in the back (I'm always so thankful when I have to sit back there that there's so much!), trunk space is great. We helped moved friends yesterday and I can't tell you how much that thing holds when the back seats are laid flat, too.

My only issue with it is gas mileage for the around town stuff. On highways, it's great. When I first got the car, I went from Norfolk, VA- Vienna, VA (DC)- Quantico, VA, on one tank of gas. Cruise control was set at about 73 mph the whole way. I get great mileage going to and from school (mostly 70 mph highways), it's just the grocery shopping, out to dinner, movies, mall runs that kill me. We've decided that it's of much greater importance to have the safety and just swallow the gas prices.

I've had one for the past two years. I stepped back from a Trailblazer EXT because of the gas mileage (13 MPG) to the Equinox which we were told would get 20 mpg +/-. But that hasn't happened. On average I probably get 15 Mpg. The back seat is big - adults are always amazed at the leg room.

Best thing about it is the pickup. First off the line everytime! (Which is probably why my MPG is low...)

My sister has an Equinox and LOVES it, but has had about 3 minor problems in her first 9-10 months of ownership. Most recently, the bolts from the transmission came loose and her transmission almost dropped out of the car. They (the dealership) told her she would have to wait for over a week for them to order bolts and she was upset because we were leaving for vacation, so they took bolts off of a new Equinox on the lot and CEMENTED them into her car!! Otherwise, the car is great, has LOTS of backseat leg room and rides very smooth! I'm thinking of getting one myself :)
