Does everyone know what it is????????????????

I have a little cousin that has spent A LOT of time in the hospital because he has it and whenever I tell people in school a lot of them dont know what epilepsy is.

I know what it is. Its quite hard to deal with.

I know exactly what it is, and I can kind of relate to some with it because of the seizures.

Yes, I know what epilepsy is.

 to your cousin.

Thank you so much. He actually just got out of the hospital yesterday after a 2 week stay. He's been having a lot of trouble with his medicine so this was actually his 4th hosital stay of the year. Thats why the whole epilepsy topic has been on my mind a lot lately

I had it till I was 12.My form was mild so I was able to outgrow it.

This is what they hope will happen to my cousin. He has a mild form but he has a lot of medicine issues so like I said before he's in and out of the hospital a lot. If you dont mind me asking, what do you remember from the time you had epilepsy and did you ever have medicine issues. Its ok if you dont want to answer:thumbsup2

I didn't know people DIDN'T know what epilepsy was. 2 of my cousins, on both sides of the family have epilepsy. Actually, 3.
The two on my dad's side are 11 (almost 12) and 30. They're normal functioning. The cousin that has it one my mom's side is 18 and she's not normal functionally. She has epilepsy, and I guess the epilepsy gave her brain damage during a seizure so now she has symptoms of autism. If she learns something, then has a seizure, she will forget everything she learned. She's 18 and on a 2nd graders educational level.

Yea none of the American stuff worked so we went over to Germany and I took a medicine called Zyrontin there.I was seizure free from 7 to 12 then I was cleared. If I'm correct they have that medicine here now,if not you can always ask for them to make it.

Yeah, i did a report on it last year.

 give that to your cousin (:

I know what it is. My aunt has it very mildly. Prayers and pixie dust for your cousin and family :)

I know what it is. My younger brother has a form of it.

's to your cousin.

i too have a mild for of Epilepsy. i have had only 2 severe Seizures in my life thank goodness. but its just something that is def. not good for your body. (brain damage)

We're kind of learning about it in Psychology, as part of the Sperry study. A solution to extreme epilepsy was to cut the corpus callosum, which connects the two hemispheres of the brain. Sperry wanted to find out the effects on the brain of that surgury. Long story short, he found that the left hemisphere was used for logic, and the right hemisphere for creativity.

Hope that your cousin does end up outgrowing it

Its good that your learning about it in a class, its just so overlooked sometimes because its not directly associated with death most times
