Epic Packing Mistakes...

I forgot to pack a contact case, so I put my contacts in a plastic cup with solution each night. One morning I got up and no cup... DH had dumped it and used it, even though I told him a dozen times not to. My contacts are the same prescription, so I'd only packed one spare. I never, ever wear my glasses, but I was stuck using my old pair with a cracked frame that didn't actually stay on my face the rest of the week. I hate how I look in all of our photos. Lesson learned - contact case and several spare contacts.

I have forgotten contact lens cases so many times that I now have a spare case permanently in my toiletry kit. The worst was when I forgot on our trip to China to adopt ds. So I had to keep my contacts in for the whole long multiple flights through check in at the hotel and then the hotel didn't have any. So dh and I went on a quest in Beijing to buy a new case. No, we don't speak mandarin.

Yikes! I tried to keep mine in one night and it was awful. I can't imagine a long flight. I called a few places in Orlando and no one had my prescription in stock. I now have one that just stays in my suitcase.

Back in 2006, I spent months planning our vacation. My parents and niece met us there and I planned everything for the six of us. Packed everything neatly in Ziploc bags, brought Tink gifts, pre bought pins, pre bought glow necklaces, all the travel meds, etc...I was so proud-I'd thought of EVERYTHING and gotten it all in our luggage and it all weighed in perfectly at the airport!

The first day, ds goes to get dressed...NO underwear...had to go to the hotel gift shop and buy a pack of undies that cost a small fortune! :sad2:

When we got home, there on my bed, his underwear-all neatly packed up in a Ziploc bag.! :rotfl:
This was my pre-trip routine last year:crazy2: I had everything ready, checked and double checked. I bought the squeeze breeze water fans at my local walmart and the first morning I filled them up with ice water all ready to go for a hot summer day at WDW and . . .no batteries:faint: I guess I should have triple checked my list:rotfl:

I went to my nephews graduation with ds9 and we stayed in a hotel. I forgot my contact case. I told my son I was going to put them in two cups over by the tv. I went into the bathroom and came out to find he had taken the hotel notepad and labeled the cups in the room to make sure he wouldn't drink them. Two cups were labeled contacts and my cup of water near the bed was also labeled water. So cute!!

My sneakers. It was a fall trip and we left late in the day. I had been wearing my fuzzy crocs and had made a mental note to change into my sneakers before we left and totally forgot. We were on the airport shuttle when I looked down at my feet and said "oh crap." I thought I'd would just buy sneakers in Disney but we couldn't find any! I had packed my Mickey Crocs in my suitcase (which ironically I could have bought from just about every store in WDW, this was a few years ago) and just wore them the whole trip. It was a quick 2 day wdw trip followed by a Disney cruise so I didn't "need" sneakers, but it would have been nice to have them!

I forgot a belt one year. Doesn't seem like that big a deal right? The next morning DH and I get everyone up and go to IHOP for breakfast before our big day at magic kingdom. As I went to pay I was like "oh I must have left my wallet in the car". (I know I had my wallet with me when we left the room). It's not in the car. I then remember I threw it in the bottom of the rental stroller we got. Check the stroller (the best I could with it folded up in the back of the car)...no wallet.

I went into complete panic mode!! I thought OMG it fell out of the stroller when it was being folded up! It had about $1000 cash. All my cards. License. My life!! Oh just thinking about it now makes me cringe.

DH pulls the stroller out and unfolds it. There was my wallet in the bottom of the stroller. I guess with it folded up it flopped the wallet somewhere I couldn't feel it. DH rips the wallet from my hands and says "how about I keep this?" Please DO! The relief was overwhelming. He hands me $20 to grab a belt from the gift shop. So yeah.....I forgot a belt. Lol

My DS graduated HS in 2012 and for his graduation he asked for a Disney cruise. We were all so excited as this was our first cruise ever and it was a 7 night. Part of the fun for me was planning and shopping for all of our clothes! :goodvibes Anyway, my mom had given my son a new black suit and I had really put a lot of thought and effort into putting our "Formal Night" outfits together. I wanted to be sure we were all color coordinated so we looked great in our pictures.

The day finally comes and the car is all packed we are ready to head out...but I have this nagging feeling that something is missing. We look everywhere and cannot find anything we overlooked. So we finally leave and drive about 45 minutes. The feeling that something is missing is really driving me nuts so we actually turn around and drive back home. We search the house over and cannot find anything. So back in the car...drive to Fl and board the ship. Late that afternoon we get our luggage and I am hanging everything up and organizing the room. I then realize what is missing...my DS had never put his suit in the garment bag. Ohhh, I was soooo mad at him. :sad2: Thankfully he did have another pair of dress pants and his dress shirt and tie. But he would have looked so sharp in the suit. To this day, everytime I look at our formal picture I think about his suit.

in 2007 we left for a post Easter trip...we stopped at a store, bought dd a Tinkerbell outfit, and a stuffed Easter Bunny on clearence. We drove all the way from Virginia to WDW with it, and an hour into the trip we realized we forgot our stroller!
This year we forgot extra sneakers for my youngest, as well as Pepto Bismal.

I don't recall forgetting anything important at WDW, but we had planned a fun weekend at DL one year. We didn't have passes at the time, but had purchased special multi-day park hoppers that we could use anytime in a 4-5 month period (rather than needing to use all the days within 14 days of first use). We had already used one day off our 2 day tickets and they were set to expire in one week. So we drove down the night before, stayed in a nice hotel overnight, then were up early for rope drop. Except our hotel included breakfast and DH took his sweet time eating. I was so annoyed with him because we were running late and were going to miss rope drop, I was not very nice about it.

Finally we get over to the gates and he says, "Do you have our tickets?" That's when I realized I had left them on our bulletin board at home.:eek: I cried. Home was 2 hours away in traffic at that time of day. Eventually we were able to have a ticket agent reissue them, as my brother was able to send us a picture of the backs of the cards. It was a big hassle though, and that was truly the last thing they wanted to do, so I feel like we were lucky.

My husband wears glasses and also has the same pair in a prescription sunglass. Well we left the house with only his sunglasses on. When we got to the airport we realized that he did not have his other pair to change into. Too late. So he had to spend his first day in Orlando looking like Ray Charles. hehe But we had a family member get them and overnight them to us at the hotel so all was not lost. :)

That same trip I forgot sunscreen. $14 later we were all protected from the sun. Never again will I forget toiletries at Disney.

I'm from the UK so had my spending money in dollars on a pre paid card. Guess what didn't make it into my wallet and was found on my bed at home 2weeks later? The hoops I had to jump through to get a replacement! :(

May seem like a small thing, but last year, I forgot to pack my husband's belt. He doesn't normally wear one, but he likes a bit of a looser fit. So he does wear a belt at WDW because after an entire hot and sweaty, water-ride filled day, the waist of his shorts loosens up. Well, last year, halfway through our first day, which was at DHS, he's hauling his waistband up, hauling his waistband up. Sorry, babe, forgot the belt :crazy2:.

We're prowling through the only couple of clothing stores in DHS and finally find a $60 leather dress belt. Ummm, no :rotfl2:. So ya know what we bought instead???

SHOELACES :joker: Couple of bucks, max.

He used that pair of shoelaces as a belt the whole trip--what a champ, ha!

And I promise this--I will not, repeat NOT, forget that belt this year!

First trip Dec. 2007- styled in KC night before early flight out. Used a shuttle service to park our van and they drop us off at airport. Kids were 5 and 6 months and it was a cold KC winter morning. We get to the shuttle service place, and I tell My DW to take the kids to the shuttle and I would carry all the bags. After a couple trips from our van to the shuttle, we are set. When we got to Disney and we were settled and unpacking things from ME, I take our DD to swim. Come back form the swim to find out that we were missing the suitcase that had all of our 6 month old DS clothes, formula, food, etc. and it also had my wife's makeup....:confused3

Bought some clothes for the little guy, but he has on the same little zipped hoodie in just about all the photos from this trip, and DW has to comment that she had no make up in all of these pics....

2nd trip March 2012- same deal, we are going to stay in KC and flyout early the next morning. As we got up and ready to head to KC, about a 3 hour drive for us, it is discovered that my truck was broke into and wallet had been stolen. :scared1: Had to cancel all my credit cards, go to the bank and get some cash and pre-paid debit cards, since I had to cancel mine. And a temp drivers license so I could fly to Orlando the next morning. With all that chaos that morning, we of course left another bag. This time, it was DW's hair products, straightener, brush, spray, etc. sigh....hoping that this next trip in December will be less eventful in the leaving anything behind, especially DW makeup and/or hair products...:thumbsup2

Well it didn't happen in disney, but it was a pretty big deal.

We stayed on maui for 6 nights then hopped over to big island for a week. When I packed everyone's stuff from the first condo, I left an entire drawer full of clothes in the dresser. They were all the clothes my husband brought on the trip except the clothes on his back:duck:

He ended up wearing some of our 13yr old sons clothes til the clothes were fedexed to us:rotfl2: this included an oscar the grouch shirt:thumbsup2

Glad to see its happens to more then just us lol!
Our first DWD trip is coming up so my story is not from there but from our 3 week road trip last summer. We drove from CT to Chicago. Then to North Dakota and finally Mt. Rushmore. My DH family is in ND. They had a county fair going on. After the visit to the fair we got the kids in the car, DS 7 and DS 18months. The people parked in from of us in the field had left so we pulled forward and left. The next morning we were leaving to start our journey to Mt. Rushmore and we can't find the stroller. We realize we left it behind the car in the fair parking lot because we went forward so DH didn't look back and he thought I put the stroller in the back and vice versa. Thankfully it's a small town and after a few phone calls we find out someone did turn it in and someone drove up to the fair grounds to meet us to get it for us.
On the same trip I had bought my DS 7 a new pair of Keens before we left. He also had his sneakers. Half way through the trip I realized he kept wearing his sneakers and asked if there was an issue with the Keens. He said no but he only has one! I called every hotel and families house we stayed at and never found it :(

Not DW but last February we were about 20 mins from the airport heading to Aruba. I realized I left my toiletry bag at home!! :scared: it had all my makeup extra contacts and my glasses in the bag. Needless to say. I wore my disposable contacts for 9 day. Than had to find somewhere to buy new makeup. I have rosacea so I just settled for a good foundation.

Not Disney, but DD is on a special milk substitute for a milk allergy and has been since she was a few months old. She was about a year old when this happened.

DH thought I packed it in my bag, I thought he packed it (I SWEAR he DID!). Nope. Nada.

So it's a special order only thing and after hours of frantic searching on a Sunday, I found this one weird, shady "drug" store in the middle of nowhere Texas (DH said there was nothing on the shelves and he was scared for his life!) that was an hour and a half away from his Mom's house that had two cans for a bajillion dollars. :scared:

This thread has not only been thoroughly entertaining, but full of great ideas of how to manage these crazy situations. Y'all are some creative problem solvers!:thumbsup2

In 2008 I forgot my 10 month old's Tinkerbelle costume, left it hanging on the armoire. Realized it two days before our party (yes, we were already in Disney!)We tried to find any costume to fit her at parks, harder than you'd think.

Luckily, our friends were leaving to come to WDW and were arriving on the day of the party. We had to get Grandpa to find the costume and leave it on porch. My bff had to pick it up and bring it to me in MK!

If I had to forget it , that was the best case scenario, she saved the day!
