Epic Mickey questions

Ok. So I got Epic Mickey for the Wii this weekend and played it a little. It is really cool, but I have a few questions/problems with the game. Maybe some more experienced gamers out there know the answers:

1. How do you save? I can't figure out how to save my changes when I am done playing. It seems to automatically save at certain points whether you want to or not. But each time I turn on the game, I have to redo things I have already done.

2. How do you go through the movie screens again? Or back to previous areas? I wasn't paying attention to getting stuff much when I started and know I missed a bunch of items (tickets, treasure chests, etc) that I want to go back and get.

Any ideas anyone?

1. You don't save, it just brings you back to the last "save point" you reached in the game. I always play until the next level.

2. Again, from what I've done (only part way though) you can't backtrack the game without starting a new one.

Nope can't go back......Frustrates me!!! :headache: But I am enjoying the game. It's funny but I find the 2d stages harder than the 3d stages....

You can see when it saves as the Mickey ears and head appears in the top right corner. There is one spot you can go back between Meanstreet and ostown, as you have to for the game. There is another screen you can use to go somewhere if you save a certain gremlin, which I didn't.

So far there have been a couple place that I have had to get my gamer husband to get me past, because I am horrible at fighting things and jumping on things, but I am having fun in ostown, all stuff I can do.

I finally played this weekend (we got the game for Christmas). I am definitely "jump challenged."

I finally started playing the game, too. I felt like I accomplished something by finally getting out of the castle. I'm in the ticket booth world, but I thought I'd never get there because it took me a while to get out of the beanstalk film clip!

Maybe I'll attempt to fix the maintenance area by the "small world" knockoff if I feel up to it. :)

I highly recommend the guide that goes with the game. 11 yo DD and I are not good gamers so we tag team. She does all the onscreen stuff and I read the book and give her directions where to go and what look for. It may not be the ideal way to play but it's working for us. It would be nice to have a secondary character (Pluto perhaps?) to make it a 2-player game. We really enjoyed Lego Harry Potter and Lego Star Wars although occasionally I had to drop out because I am also "jump challenged" and was keeping us from finishing levels. Have fun with Epic Mickey!

Ohhhh, I SO hear you! I am having trouble with the darkness too. The scene that I am in (forget the name, but I am supposed to stop the thinner from ruining Gus' house) is so dark for me that I often cannot see when I am the edge of a cliff and keep dying because of it. Can you say total frustration?!?

I am not much of a gamer, so it is taking me a long time to get through. Also, between keeping the household going and work, I have only little snippets of time to play. It may take me a year :scared1:, but I will finish!

Boy, listening to you guys talk, I *may* move up a level in this game by about 2015... But I guess I need to take it out of the box first & start playing!!!! :rotfl:

Sayhello

I am also having trouble jumping! Maybe it's not us, but the game. I also agree about it being too dark in some scenes. I had a heck of a time getting out of the small world ride. I was trapped in there for 2 days. Lol

I also got it for Christmas and I've been using "My Cheats: Disney Epic Mickey Walkthrough and Strategy Super Guide", its been helpful but a pain because computer is in basement and wii is upstairs. :upsidedow I've enjoyed playing it but I have one complaint about the camera view - it does get to be a pain afterawhile :sad2:

I love games, but the darkness drives me nuts., I think Mickey is getting tired of me jumping him in rivers.

I've known since the original Super Mario Brothers days that I am missing the "jumping" gene...my mom didn't have it either (remember her cursing Pitfall on our old Atari system).

When I get really stuck I call my 9yo dd who will get me through! :thumbsup2

I am in the same place! Game arrived Friday and it is still in its shrink wrap.

Yes, I rely on my daughter to do the jumps for me. Luckily I suck enough at the game that I can't play it when I'm home by myself...I would never get anything done!! And I would scare the neighbors screaming when I'm home alone!:scared1:

I beat the game, which is pretty unusual for me, I usually get stuck and lose interest. One thing that helped me a lot was video walkthroughs on you tube. There is one posted by disneyepicmickey that was REALLY helpful.

I bought the guide and used that for awhile, but eventually I ditched it because the videos were so great.

My 7 year old daughter got farther than I did in her first sitting of an hour than I did in 4 hours over several times. :rotfl: She isn't all that coordinated so I am afraid what that says about me.

So did we all buy it when it was the Amazon daily deal? Mine just arrived today. My 3 y.o DD was shaking at the opening with the ink blot. But once we got into the game both kids loved it (they watch Mommy play)!
