Epcot's newest attraction just turned 10!

Epcot underwent one of the most aggressive periods of E Ticket building in Disney Parks history. From 1999 to 2005 3 new E Tickets opened. Soarin finished those updates. Epcot has been living off the momentum of those upgrades ever since. I would say it's time for serious thought on updating Future World extensively. However, it's not critical. That's the problem. Despite being older, there are enough crowd pleasers to make updating and spending more seem illogical. How many more guests could Disney gain by adding an all new E Ticket? The jury is out.

I don't know if they need to gain more guests to Epcot, specifically, but they do need to disperse their guests, and they need to keep their guests from just wanting to spend a few days at MK then go over to Universal. Honestly, this is what I see our family doing once all the kids are school-aged.

Yes, the new film is debuting at Shanghai Disneyland exclusively, and then will be rolled out to Florida sometime after. I have seen other rumors that say they're making an entirly new film, but that doesn't make sense. Apparently there will be a different Walt Disney World flyover at the end.

Still don't understand. What do you mean by entirely new?

The new film you are talking about is the same film with just a new WDW flyover at the end? Or Soarin' is getting a completely new film (i.e. new places to fly over)

Soarin is getting a completely new film that will debut exclusively in Shanghai. That film with come to WDW with a WDW flyover at the end instead of a Shanghai flyover. Disneyland would get a Disneyland flyover. Some people thing that Florida is getting an entirely different film than Shanghai but that is unlikely.

Don't forget soarin is getting a third theater! (Sarcastic voice)

I have heard this ( form someone that works at GR) too along with another Toy story track not sure when I do not think they have even started on construction

It's confirmed Disney has announced it and construction is well underway with both projects.

My guess is Epcot must make so much money during the food and drink festivals that they don't need to build a new ride there at least at this time.

And don't forget all the food booths during flower and garden. Yes it has been said that Disney like these periods because they bring in a lot of revenue.

Right. How much of the year do those two festivals run for now? Almost half the year.

The food & wine festival has been expanded to 8 weeks. Last year, Epcot added food/drink booths for holidays around the world festivities.

Don't forget that Soarin is a direct clone of the Original in DCA - just without the nice theme and queue area. So it wasn't even really a 'fresh unique ride'.

I won't return to Epcot, DHS, or AK until there is a new E-ticket attraction built. I'm not "down on Disney" but I just don't see any reason to return to do the exact same things, maybe after 5 years or so but not before then. All 3 of those parks are half-day parks to me. Last time I went to MK Splash Mountain was closed and the Dwarfs mine train was open yet so next Orlando trip I'll make a stop at MK and spend the rest of it at Universal as that is all new to me. But if Disney built new attractions at the other parks, I'd happily go back.

Well AK is getting theirs. I could skip DHS but I don't think I could skip Epcot or AK. In terms of details and feeling amazed AK does it every time I'm there. Epcot ID at least go to dinner there or something. DHS just doesn't that've much anymore. I love ToT and RnRc but the rest of the park is just meh. I know a lot of people think AK is a half day park but I don't think of it as one I truly love that park. AK is so much more than rides. That's kind of how Epcot is too tho, disney parks aren't amusement parks they are theme parks they aren't meant to be a ride every 25 feet. The parks are a ride in itself.

I definitely get what you mean, but to me it isn't worth spending $100 to go on 5-6 rides (which is all there is at Epcot, DHS, and AK). I understand if you don't care about rides that it isn't an issue but I am a ride person first and foremost, the rest of the stuff is just kind of a bonus. I go to a nice restaurant and shop everywhere, I can see fireworks and parades everywhere, but I can't go on amazing rides everywhere, that is why I go to theme parks. I absolutely love the few rides that are at those parks and think they are great! They just need to double the number of them. I'd rather go to parks I haven't been to and then when it's time to head back to DW, hopefully there will be something new to do. Avatar will be great, glad they are doing that!

I understand but you could even claim that MK doesn't have enough. Disneyland and DCA have more in terms than MK, AK, DHS, and Epcot in terms of rides.

I definitely agree that the MK doesn't have enough. That have a lot of rides but not many major rides. Here are all the rides that I get genuinely excited to ride - Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Mine Train, Haunted House, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan, POTC. So 8 rides, with about 3 or 4 being thrill rides. I get it, the MK is supposed to be about the total experience, great theming, characters, rides for the whole family, it's not supposed to be Six Flags, etc.. I get it and that's what I like about Disney as well. But, what would be wrong with adding 3-4 more big time E-ticket thrill rides? It wouldn't take away from the feel of Disney, it would just add to it. Plus, Disney can theme them so they aren't just a steel roller coaster sitting in the middle of the park - ideas like Fire Mountain, Bald Mountain, a new and improved Indiana Jones ride, and one more and we're set!
