Hi! In three weeks we'll be going on our very first Disney World trip ever! While we are in Epcot we decided that it may be best (for our group of 4 adults and 1 child) to just have dinner by trying something from each of the different countries. What would you suggest that we don't miss?

Hmmm...Definitely stop for the fish & chips in England, nachos in Mexico (and the margaritas are worth the $$), and a pastry in France for dessert.

The Biergarten in Germany is lots of fun for all, and pretty good buffet too. Gotta love the Oompah band which will entertain young and old alike.

For the food, Akershus has some of the best prepared food in WDW, IMO, plus great service and decent prices. Akerhus and Boma (at AKL) are my picks for best value for money.

Marrakesh is fun, but IMO you get better Moroccan food at Jiko (AKL) or Spoodles (BW).

The Epcot World Showcase gives us a chance to sample things we are less likely to find at home. I know of no Norwegian or even Scandinavian restaurants in Greater Boston, and the so-called German restaurants in this area are just terrible. But we can get decent Mexican food, great Italian, Chinese and Japanese, and very good Fish & Chips around here, so nothing special for us there.

We were there last year and I still can't get the memory of France's cheesecake out of my head! Can't wait til next week when I can go back for more!

Dh loved the fish and chips in UK and will probably do that again. We had a churro in Mexico, but this time we're going to have a margarita instead. We'll definitely stop in Norway's bakery to try some of the school bread everyone is raving about. An egg roll in China is a must. We're going to try a platter in Morroco. Dh is begging for the baklava already! Hmm...what else? Some brats and beer in Germany, of course.

We're like you...not going to eat a huge meal at any ONE spot but rather snack at ALL the countries.

I read somewhere that you can get little containers of the Beer and Cheese soup "to go" from Le Cellier in Canada........

We have done this for the past couple of years and have really enjoyed ourselves. We always have tempura and sushi in Japan, sauages in Germany, funnel cake in US, egg roll in China, fish and chips in England.

Has anyone else heard of cheese soup to go? Or was that just a food and wine thing. We love the cheese soup and would love to get it to go. Can we stop by the sit down restaurants and get an appetizer to go??

CAUTION: Don't go on MS after eating around the world!

I have only seen the cheese soup to go at the F&W Fest.

Try the Marvelous at the French bakery.
All WS is a great place to eat. Too many good choices!

We've done this a few times, but I'll caution you that it can be a pain if everyone wants to eat different things. It is a mile around the World Showcase, so it's not that easy for one person to eat at Mexico and another to eat at China, etc. Another problem is that dessert needs to fall at the right location. If you go from country to country, buying something to share at each counter service restaurant, it might work. There are not tiny samples of things at each country, so you wouldn't be able to literally eat something at each.

Several of the suggestions on this thread are for sit-down restaurants, so keep that in mind for your planning.

There are 2 places I CAN'T miss at WS. I always have to have somethings from the French bakery, (many times we stop by before Illuminations and get breakfast for the next morning) and I love the apple strudel in Germany!!!! Can you tell I have a sweet tooth????

we did this last month at the F&W festival where there are tiny portions to buy so you can eat at many countries.
In the past when it's not been F&W festival time we have shared a single portion from a few countries. As a Brit, I have to say the fish and chips from the UK were not the best I've ever had - I had then a few years ago and they were lovely, but I was really disappointed this year, I am not sure what sort of fish it was, but I don't think it was cod.

saying that, the last time we ate around the world, we shared a fish n chips in the UK, then had pastries in France, then a walk to burn some of the food, I think we had some drinks in Italys and we finished with coffees and pastrys in Norway. It was quite a nice way to enjoy a meal.

I have to agree! The rice cream can be found in the bakery across from Akershus. I ate as much as I could on our last visit.

I'm not sure if you're talking about all in one day or over a few days, but your plan does sound interesting and definitely lends itself to possibilities.
Sometimes when we haven't felt like sitdown and both of us are hankering for different foods we've started at one end and gone from country to country picking 1 item out of the fast service menu and sharing it.
At first we thought this would be one expensive proposition - but have found that we averaged overall no more that $50 before we were done.
Just don't start in England w/ the fish and chips because those things fill you up.
I'm not sure how you'd work that in w/ 4 adults and 1 child, but perhaps 2 of you would pick one item for the 2 of you and the other 2 pick something out for themselves and child fits somewhere in between.
We usually laugh because when we get to America we split a coke (pretty American).
