Our flight on our departure day isn't until 5pm. We won't be leaving the resort until about 2:30. I'm wondering if it's worth adding a 5th day to our tickets to visit the Epcot World Showcase that morning, and do a late breakfast (11:00am) at Akershus before leaving. Thoughts?

Yes, you have plenty of time to enjoy some park time if you don't have to leave until 2:30. Keep in mind the World Showcase doesn't open until 11 AM. Perhaps Akershus for breakfast at 0800 or 0900, then kill some time in Future World, then see the World Showcase? Then you can grab a delicious ham sandwich from France on your way out at 2:00 for a late lunch on the go!

No one can say what is "worth it" for you. Me? I would not pay the extra money for my family to extend my tickets just so that I could spend half my time at WS sitting in Akershus. Or most restaurants for that matter. If I were leaving at 2:30, I would either try for Rope Drop at a park and enjoy the park from opening until 2:00, or if I wanted a more relaxing day, I would go to a resort or DTD and have lunch there. But I would not pay extra to enter WS at 11:00, leave at 2:00 and spend most of that time at a TS restaurant.

If you have never been to the World Showcase, I would say it would be nice way to spend your last morning. If you've been there before, I think it would still be a nice way to spend you final morning unless it will make you feel rushed knowing that you have to leave by a certain time.

Oh, thank you. I didn't realize World Showcase doesn't open until 11am. I was anticipating visiting the World Showcase from 9a-11a, then after breakfast before leaving. Your plans make more sense, in lieu of that.

if its your first taste of World Showcase, even with 3 hours you'll barely get through half of the pavillions, there is a lot to see

A big recommendation for DTD. It's almost always what we do before we have to leave for the airport. Our favorite, if we can swing it and have a car, is an early breakfast at Kona (pineapple pancakes!!), then to DTD. We do our souvenir shopping at WoD, get an ornament at the Christmas shop as a memento of our trip. Get something terribly decadent at Goofys to eat on the plane, and sometimes share a sundae at Ghirardelli. Our flight is usually around 3 pm, so generally we just eat a late lunch at the airport or not at all after that big Kona breakfast. But there are lots of great places to eat at DTD for lunch.

This is what I would do. And have done! Especially comparing the minimal price difference for the 5th day park ticket.

Yeah, the 5th day cost an additional $42 for all 4 of us. But, instead of the original idea, we were able to secure FP+ for Soarin', Turtle Talk with Crush and Meet Disney Pals. I figure if all we do are those three attractions and a late breakfast at Akershus before we head back, it'll be worth it for my DDs to really have that magical experience. But, if time permits, we'll check out Test Track and the Seas with Nemo and friends before leaving.

I'm glad that you posted your plan here before going so that you can learn that the World Showcase doesn't open until 11:00 am!! I had that same plan on our last trip, and we spent our last morning in Epcot. I wanted to tour World Showcase but didn't realize it didn't open at the same time as Future World! Doh! Rookie mistake!! We spent time waiting for WS to open at Canada and rushed through because we had to leave to 12:30. Not a very relaxing last morning!
