Can any recent visitors to "Germany" tell me if they sell cuckoo clocks there? DH and I are going for our 5th anniversary and the traditional gift for 5 years is wood. Well, DH has always like cuckoo clocks and they are made of wood, so I thought that would make a great present. I just need to know if they sell them in any of the German shops and get a ballpark price so I can save appropriately.

Thanks! :smickey:

They absolutely do sell the cuckoo clocks, but I can't remember the cost of them. Hopefully someone else can chime in and help you with that.

i dunno the prices either but i would conservatively save about $50 for the smaller ones. the larger they are, they can cost several hundreds. but there is an entire wall full of them.

They are VERY expensive here. I was flipping around cable shortly after a trip one time and was shocked to see them on one of the shopping channels at less than 1/2 of the price. I am no expert so I cannot vouch for quality. I didn't see anything Disney about the ones at Germany (was there yesterday) if that is why you want to buy at Epcot.

that's actually a pretty good point, since i usually remind people when they take about Laila in Norway, very little merchandise sold at World Showcase is exclusive to the Epcot stores.

I'd recommend looking elsewhere. We noticed the clocks during our January trip, and they were more than twice what we paid for ours (granted, we bought it in Salzburg, but still...) You'll find much better prices elsewhere. I'd recommend taking a trip to Salzburg, but then again, that will add to the cost! :)

Thanks to everyone who responded! I'm bumping this only to see if someone can chime in with some actual prices...only because "expensive" is subjective and I'd like to see some concrete numbers before I decide to look elsewhere.

Thanks!!!

okay, well, a little elbow grease returned these figures

$250 - $2700
$240 - $1800

that should give you some help.

my husband bought me one of the "bambi" cuckoo clocks from the Germany pavilion back in 2000. it is not the tinyest of clocks they sell there, but it is about 6-8 inches wide (guessing as i am at work now and the clock is at home). i am thinking the clock cost about 250/280 ish.

as a footnote - i LOVE it. it is one of my most prized posessions. when we moved, i no longer had the pin for it and recall reading in the manual that you should never lay one down after it has been activated.....so it was the very last thing we removed from the house and the movers were forbidden from touching it. i held it suspended in my arms in the car from the old house to the new one. as soon as we stepped into the new house i found the spot i wanted to hang it, DH drove the nail and it was hung before any other items were moved into that house.

Just a warning, I remember another person saying they bought a clock in germany and went home and found the EXACT same one online for 1/2 the price. Make sure if you get one it is worth the price so if you do see it cheaper later you won't be upset

edit: I just noticed this is my 100th post, woohoo

I look at the cuckoo clocks everytime I'm at Epcot in Germany. They really are expensive. I remember the smallest ones in the $250 range. And those are really small.

I would love to have a Bambi cuckoo clock, or maybe a Snow White one (that would be great).

I never bought one from WDW because of their expense. :(

I am going to Epcot either tonight or tomorrow night. I'll check on the prices!! Id love to have one, but we may be getting one from the SO's German grandmother, that was actually purchased in Germany and she's had it for years and years.

Well they aren't ALL wood and they aren't ALL that expensive.

DH and I bought a neat clear plexiglass clock from Germany at Epcot. Very cool and you can see the working gears.

As far as wood clocks go they do have some beautiful ones. Now the prices when we were looking are from 5 years ago so I'm sure they're higher now but we actually did find several real small clocks for under $100.
Price be damned they make a fun non-typical souvenir. We smile every time we hear our clock go "cuckoo! cuckoo!"

Oh wait. That's just my DH calling to me. :lmao:

Epcot sells the Anton Schneider Cuckoo Clocks which are certified Black Forest Clocks and some of the best, but you can save money buying it online at Cuckoopalace. I bought a 8-day movement Hunter Series on sale for $369.00 no tax and shipped free UPS from Germany, with a two year warranty and a VDS Certified Black Forest. (There is a big difference in price for a 1 day movement and a 8 day movement, also if its musical besides the cuckoo. It was also an Anton Schneider which is sold at Epcot. If you are going to Epcot and see a clock you like either take a picture of it or model number and the price and check on-line with Cuckoopalace. Disney also charges around $0.00 for shipping plus sales tax.

The OP posed the question in 2007. Closing as the OP was last on in early 2018.
