Epcot with a six year old?

My DS (6) and I have been to WDW twice in the last two years and headed for our third time for a short 4 days before a 7 day cruise on Magic!!

He's never been to Epcot and I haven't been in YEARS... so what will he enjoy?

My daughter hated it at 5 and did not care for it much at 7.

I think the only thing that did not bother her too much was Spaceship Earth, Figment, most of The Land and Test Track was good for her, too.

My kids are 17, 7 & 9, they liked the world showcase in small junks. Everyone liked the stuff in Future World. Test track was a favorite as well as Soarin.
Just don't have high expectations.

Test track, Soarin, The Land , The living Seas. Do not forget to make a mask in the WS. The train in Germany, the candy lady in Japan, the performers in France, Italy, & england. And Illuminations.

What our kids 4 & 7 liked the best was the calmness of Epcot, it is a great park to take slow.
And I forgot to add Turtle Talk in the living seas-excellent

Maybe my kids are strange, but they liked it, I have two girls- 2.5 and 5. We rode Spaceship Earth which my 5 year old loved and wanted to go on again (don't ask me why!)- still talks about Living with the Land, rode Soarin, hubby and I did Test Track and liked it-, also did Figment but not the 3D movie- thought it might be too intense for them. They also loved the countries, probably because they met some characters and did the Kidcot stops, they also loved the Mexico boat ride and we went on Maelstrom 5 or 6 times. The little things along the way around amused them too, like the lady making candy in Japan and the juggler/clown in Italy. I didn't think they were going to like it as much as they did.
I hope I don't confuse your decision more- I guess there's no way to tell if a kid likes it until you get there! Have fun!

My kids loved Epcot. They first went when they were 4 and 7. I was surprised at how much there is to do for young kids. They especially loved the Kidcot stations in the World Showcase and all the little side shows (Chinese Acrobats etc), Spaceship Earth (or the "Giant Ball" as they called it), Test Track, The Land ride, Imagination, Ellens Energy Adventure. Have a great time!

my son (at age 5 ) loved epcot! it was his favorite park! we spent more time in the living seas looking at all the fish. of course the highlight of that was when he discovered that they indeed do "the doo" in the very same water they are living in. he even asked a CM about it when he didn't believe me! he also enjoyed the dive tank show with Diver Ed. (he still talks about him)

don't forget to do test track. too much fun to see their faces!

Thanks everyone!!! We might skip AK this trip... and do Epcot instead. He FREAKED with "It's a bug's life"... and the entire park lost it's allure...

He thinks that Epcot is completely contained in "the big silver ball".... how surprised he's going to be!

Our boys who are 2, 4 and 6 LOVED Epcot. We went after 4 days at the MK and MGM so it was kind of a relaxing day. We rode Soarin many times, Test Track and went on the boat ride in side the building with Soarin. We walked through the countries riding the ride in several countries. They liked Mexico the best-the way it looked inside-and the market. We didn't think they would enjoy it at all, but we spent a whole day there just walking around, taking it slow.

Our kids are 6 (boy) and 4 (girl) and they love it! Test Track, Soarin, Spaceship Earth, Honey I Shrunk.., etc... They also love the live entertainment and the random water fountain area. I can't drag them away when the band is playing at Canada (can't remember name) and they also love the music at the main stage near the American Pavillion. Most of all, they love Illuminations.

We spend more time at Epcot than we do at any other park. MK is next but not even close in the amount time spent.

Epcot has always been our DD's favorite park since they were very little.
Spaceship Earth, the Land, Figment, but maybe not the 3d movie unless
they've been in one before (it's pretty intense).. Depending on how they like
thrill rides, Mission Space and TestTrack will be fun..

Future world -do the Kidcot stuff, and maybe get an Epcot passport and
have the passport stamped around the world. The CM's in the different
pavillions will stamp the passport and do something like writing the child's
name in the country's native language, and maybe a welcome in the native
language.

The character greetings in the World Showcase are GREAT for kids -the
characters seem to have more time in the WS than most pther places..The first
one in the AM at the WS promenade is especially good -it's rarely busy.

The performances in the WS are good for the kids, too especailly the
drummers in Japan...

My kids love Epcot. Maybe they're in the minority? DS7 made his first trip there when he was 2, and has been twice a year since. DD3 was riding rides before I even knew I was preggo! (Found out the day I got back from the vacation that I was a month preggo when I was riding all those rides.) She loves Epcot too, though she isn't big enough for the big rides. They love the Future World rides, but they also love the countries. I started them on the Muzzy (BBC) language series when they were each 18 months old, so they can speak a few languages (not fluently, but enough to get by in Spanish and German). So they love to meet the CMs from the various countries. I think they'd be furious with us if we didn't spend a good bit of our time in Epcot.

Kidcot from what I understand is a fun and educational way to involve your child. Also they loving the Living Seas.

My DS6 loves Epcot and has since he was quite young (we have been to WDW 2 times per year since he was 6 weeks). It is often his first choice of where to go when we first get there! Both future world and world showcase have things he likes. I can't actually think of much at Epcot that he DOESN'T like! I have always been surprised at how much he likes visiting the different countries - he is really looking forward to F&W this year (We went during F&W 2 years ago and he still remembers it.)

My DS4 and DS6 (at the time) loved Epcot last year. We couldn't tear them away from the Mask-making tables at WS, Test Track was a huge hit, even for these timid guys. The thing my DS6 loved the most was the Fire Prevention exhibit in Innovations (I don't know if it was East or West, the one with the entrance nearest Mission Space..) where you work in teams with a flashlight going throughout different rooms in a house to find fire hazards. We had to do that 4 times....The thing I thought that was really cool was the plastic company's exhibit(can't remember THAT name either...) in the same building. You get to design your own robot on a computer and race it using a pad on the floor. Then you are ushered into another room where you can make and keep your own plastic robot. for free. I guess that I was just totally in awe that I could get something for nothing (yeah, right.) at WDW.

Wow, I feel like I've let him miss out on so much this far... I can't WAIT to go in April.... We'll always have to do MK on our first day... but Epcot... here we come!

From my DD14 since she was 2, unfortunately shes in heavy withdrawls as its been a good 5 years I imagine (buzz and pooh were already open). Anyway, she enjoyed the kid cot stations, if they are still there. She loved seeing dif. princesses in world showcase. Also, characters in themed costumes in WS (like Donald Duck in Mexican costume). She enjoys the rides at FW, and loved the restaurant in The Land. I guess some kids are more easilly impressed than others

My 5 yo loves TT. That's about it for Epcot. Fortunately, he doesn't complain when we drag him around the park.

My 4 yo said Epcot was his favorite park....he liked it all! He likes to make the mask in the WS, he liked riding Test Track with DH, he liked watching the Jammitors (street performers), he loves Spaceship Earth, liked the Land ride, Living with the Seas (may still be closed for refurbishment, not sure), he loved Illuminations, the character on holiday bus, Journey into Imagination with Figment, watching the jumping fountain, playing in the interactive fountain.
