Epcot, what a pain to get in!

I'm glad we usually go in through the IG. The pictures look like a mess. It never was good before construction.
Hopefully, when its all done, it will be much better. Simply getting the people from the monorail out of the security line will be a big improvment.
We are staying at the Swan next trip specifically to be able to enter through IG.
I’m not up-to-date, when it’s done, where will monorail ppl go?

The monorail exit ramp will be past security.
Oh that’s great! So once you’re checked at TTC or the resort, you’re done? Any estimate of when it’ll be completed? We might return to monorail resorts if they fix this.

I am working hard to make sure I will not have a purse or bag for our trip in October. DH has no problem since he wears cargo shorts. But I am trying to find a way to fit just a few items in my pockets or a pack that fits under my t-shirt. Just trying to find a way to shorten our security experience. DH says if I bring a very small purse he might be able to put it in his side pocket till we get inside. I will have to test that out.
There was no “no bag line” at Epcot when we were there in July.

For anyone whos been recently how is security pre-park opening? We will be there more than an hour before opening for a 8:05am GG ADR.

I like the idea of an instructional video for being prepared for bag check and the tapstile/finger reader. Though, honestly, people should have enough common sense to have their bags and strollers as ready as possible (unzipped, opened up, etc). And there is someone standing there telling you exactly how to navigate the tapstile/finger reader. But I swear, some people walk up to the security like they have no idea what's about to happen. I can understand if it's your first time ever going through a security check line anywhere in the world, but even then, you can see what's happening ahead of you. Get prepared! LOL!
I get that - I'm always floored by the family who is on day 3 or 4 and they are still having issues at the tapstile????

We just did an 8am breakfast at GG yesterday. Security was fine and we had no issues getting to GG by 8. I think security opened at 7:40 and guests were allowed to enter the park at 7:45.

Concerned about this as well-we have an 8am PPO breakfast on September 9 when park hours begin at 9-we were planning on getting there a little after 7-Epcot is the only park with no EMH during our stay and I am hoping we don't have to be there at 630 or earlier like everywhere else!

I entered Epcot 4 times (Future World entrance) during the last week of July and used the "no bag" line each time.

I went through it two different days at rope drop, once late afternoon, and once an hour or so before park close. Each time it was to the far right.

Which entrance? We are staying at BWV and will be coming in through the International Gateway. I wonder if the other parks have a no bag line. They all used to.

Fingers crossed monorail guests exit past security by March, not even joking when I say that will make my trip! It was that bad last time we went, and that was pre construction.

This was the week of 7/14. We went to Epcot twice that week. Both times they made everyone go thru bag check. It was about 10am ish. This was the front entrance. I am an AP holder & visit 3-4 times a yr so I’m very familiar with the no bag/security process. On those days, at that time, there was no “no bag line”. I think IG will be much better. We plan to stay at the Swan next trip & come in that way.

ETA: all other parks that week had the usual no bag line. We stayed at Poly so for Mk we went thru security there so I don’t know about that one.

I’ve found the security at EPCOT to be horrible. I don’t know what’s different there than at other parks. I would think they all have to follow the same rules. I’ve seen them tell people to bring their strollers around the tables and never bother to check them. Tell kids to go around the metal detector. One day everyone was just walking thru, not checking anyone. They were picking people randomly to go thru the metal detector. I said to the the guard this is ridiculous everyone should be being checked. He agreed and kind of shrugged his shoulders like he he’s just doing what he’s told.

so do you have a tattoo on your forehead that says you are a DVC member and visited WDW over 30 times? They don't know who you are. I've visited well over 100 times and yes, they still look in my bag.
:snooty: Now that's not right...once you hit the hundred mark all security should be forced to know your face and pass you through unabated :worship:

I seriously doubt this. They're doing this now for a reason. They don't want people parking at the TTC and going to Epcot, so both people who do that and monorail resort guests have to suffer through 2 security checks. It won't change when construction's done

Doubt it all you want, but it is part of the plan...

I respectfully disagree. When security was introduced at the parks, the monorail was not part of the bubble, so the placement of security at Epcot made sense. When the monorail was introduced, they now had the unfortunate situation of the double security, without making a major change. I believe now is the time for that major change, and the monorail drop off will be with in the security bubble. It is in Disney's best interest to not have to hire and pay the extra security to double check all the monorail passengers. We all know Disney will do their best to cut costs.
I also am not sure how many people want to park at TTC to go to Epcot, and if that really is an issue. That is adding unnecessary time to the guest's experience. I don't think Disney would go to all this expense to try to stop something that is not that big of a problem.

So can someone fill me in on what the entry procedure is? We haven’t been in 5+ years. And I just don’t remember. Is it finger scan every day? Or magic band every day? Both? And what are you allowed to bring in? Water bottles are ok, right? And food? We’re not breakfast people, more of a granola bar later in the morning kind of thing.
