Yes, if you are staying there, the IG entrance is the way to go. The walk to most rides is not that much farther than going through the front, we never seemed to be that far behind the main crowd at rope drop.

I swear I'm always behind the person with 8 million zippers on their 5 bags....security checkpoints should be like ski trails. Go through the beginner one if you don't know what you're doing, and pick the triple black diamond if you have everything unzipped and opened when you put your bag on the table.

Or if your bag doesn't fit in the box, go to the big bag line. Like they are doing with strollers now. And if anyone has a stroller with storage beneath, they go in the big bag line. And a standard back pack won't fit in that box. Has to go through the big bag line.

The front entrance to Epcot is a nightmare when they aren’t making changes...I can’t even imagine using it now. We always, even (or especially) when staying at a monorail resort, find it well worth it to just take Uber to the IG. Unfortunately, I can see that entrance turning into the nightmare that the main entrance is once the Skyliner opens.

I'm all for security to get in the parks, its needed badly.

The only "issue" i have with security at EPCOT is going through bag check twice if you take the monorail.

You have to have your bag check prior to getting on the monorail, so it would save some time if you were dumped off at the monorail ramp after bag check at epcot and not have to go through it again.

If you're staying at an Epcot resort, there isn't even a bus to the front of the park anyway, right? I don't think you have a choice anyway, and Ubering from, say, Yacht Club to the front entrance drop-off point doesn't make sense.

This last trip I made sure I didn't carry a purse and it was worth it many times over. I don't carry much so regular pockets work for me, however, when I want to carry more I wear cargo capris, which work well. If you don't have bulging pockets, they usually let you straight through the detector without taking anything out. This last trip none of us had to remove anything from our pockets.

I'm doing the same for our 2020 trip, but I bought a "NFL Stadium Approved" clear crossbody bag for those days when we want to carry rain capes or other non-pocket size stuff. Still have to go through the bag line, but it's much quicker for me and the folks behind me! At least I hope so!!

It’s so obnoxious, I love the monorail but would choose an Epcot bus in the mornings if it existed from the monorail resorts. Two monorail rides, two monorail waits, clearing security twice, it’s such a pain!

The security really should be a bit smarter. When you have an extended family with Grandma in tow who have owned DVC points for 15 years and have visited WDW over 30 times, how necessary is it for a security guard to peek in the 10-year old daughter’s sunglasses case?

What the OP and others here are focused on isn't the security aspect. This situation is not happening at the other parks, just EPCOT whilst under construction. We are all in agreement that security is good and necessary, it's the chaos that is currently at EPCOT when busy that we're talking about.

IG entrance is great. It's going to be terrible when the gondola opens up but right now it's amazing. We are only going to stay at Yaht Club or BWI next time

no..its not required to go through the metal detectors. If you notice they dont make everyone go through them.

It is required that all bags be checked.

We were there earlier this month while the mass shootings took place, i noticed the next day when we went into EPCOT they had stepped up security even more and they were checking every little bag inside of bags.

I have zero problems with that.

Disney also needs to stop selling the bags that have several zipper pockets. For years I used the with purchase backpack for the parks. I really was just too big for the park and had way to many compartments. I've moved to a smaller jansen size backpack or a smaller cross body bag. I read on here to put the small items in clear bags - saves from them having to open things. I also bring a dslr camera with me. I always take it out of my bag before I step up to security so that my bag is pretty empty and easier for them to see everything in the bag.

so do you have a tattoo on your forehead that says you are a DVC member and visited WDW over 30 times? They don't know who you are. I've visited well over 100 times and yes, they still look in my bag.
