if i remember correctly there is a uk fish and chips counter service...has anyone had it..

how good/bad is it..and how large is the portion??

thanks in advance

I've never had it but I was just there for the Food/Wine Festival and it smelled delicious! There was also a large crowd around the shop as well... hope that helps:)

Yes, just down from Rose and Crown. We stopped there twice for a snack and it was very good! The portion is ok if you are just looking for something to tide you over. We got it to share as 2 adults and it was a perfect snack. Hot, fresh, not greasy at all. Can't wait to get it again in a couple of months.

NOTE: This is a small QS stand to the right of Rose & Crown.
The menu is ONLY fish & chips. There are sides of chips or of
shortbread. The only other menu items are soda-coffee-tea
and Bass Ale or Harp Beer. Having Fish and Chips often in London,
this compares a little less favorably. Our Brit neighbors think it
is good for "American Fish and Chips", but average for "English
Fish and Chips"
. But, it is still our top QS in Epcot-WS.

Both DH & DS13 really enjoy the fish & chips.

Only downside is if you are using a CS credit, because the one and only dessert option is an itty-bitty shortbread cookie. DH got the fish & chips last year while I walked over to France and got my CS meal in the Patisserie there; CS meal included choice of several entree items plus anything from the bakery case.

DH still enjoyed his fish & chips, but did not enjoy the fact that my Napoleon dessert was basically bigger than his entire basket.............yes, I did have to share w/him.

They are quite delicious, but the portion is definitely for one. My husband and I were able to split meals all over WDW, but there was no splitting this meal. I remember having to get something else to eat.

We were there in March/April and it was not so great. Very heavy and greasy, which shocked me, because I had had it long ago and remember it being divine. So, maybe we hit it on an off day or something. It was really bad, actually. My dh is not a big foodie and even he said, it was greasy yuck. :(

We're Brits and DH insisted on having fish and chips last time we went-honestly, an entire world of food and he wants what he can have at home!:lmao: However he is a connoisseur of fish and chips and he enjoyed them-me, I wasn't so impressed, what's fish and chips without mushy peas? Now they would be an acquired taste for you all!;)

Did not love them at all. First off, it's a small portion, and the night we had them, they seem to be too busy to let the fish drain a little after frying, so it was really, really greasy. The chips were not too bad, but wouldn't have them again.

I had never tried them until after our vacation to England where I had fish and chips several times. I was really disappointed. The fish was mushy and greasy. I did think the portion size was fine.

Ah! but they do serve them at the Rose and Crown, I always get a side of them, one thing no one ever asks me for a bite of! They also have bubble and squeak!

I've at the fish and chips several times at YCFS, and once I thought the fish a bit greasy but nothing a few dozen napkins didn't solve. I eat there earlier than later in the day, because in "my mind "the oil is cleaner!

I had them as a snack about 12 because we had late lunch/early dinner reservations at 4:30, but we had not had breakfast....I found it to be a great portion for 2 people who needed something filling but not too much so...for me alone, it would have been enough to last until an 8PM dinner if I had had breakfast.

The stand that day was very busy- I stood in line and waited while my DH went to the pub to get us a couple of Stellas. I was still waiting when he got back. But even so, they were not greasy and stayed hot for several minutes-so hot we couldn't even try to eat them, even with a reverse blow technique.

NOW, here's the catch (pardon the pun) My DH doesn't do seafood but even he had a few bites and said it was really good. He ate the chips cooked with the fish-I mean all of them- and I ate most of the fish. I found it to be flaky and just enough seasoning to really get a great flavor. As a matter of fact, we will be eating them again when we go in Nov.

However, it can be hit or miss from what I understand. My friend, who's a PROUD COOKING Brit, has said they weren't the same as home but they weren't bad enough not to eat by any standards.

Happy Eating!

This is our favorite CS meal in Epcot. We've nothing to compare them with except frozen stuff we buy and take home, but we like these a lot. Usually wifey will nail down a table in the R&C and get us some suds while I get the food outside if there's no line, otherwise we get a table and odrer there.

My son likes fish & chips, I don't eat it. We were waiting in line here for him to get an order and we struck up a conversation with a gentleman from Wales. He told us the F & C here was better than any he had ever been served in a restaurant at home.

Tried it for the first time 2 weeks ago it wasn't bad at all
Looking forward to trying them again in 3 weeks and loved sitting in the back overlooking the Showcase.

They are by far the best fish and chips at WDW. The breading is crispy and the fish is flaky and not overly fishy tasting. We at least split an order every trip as a snack.

I don't usually eat fish except when I absolutely have to. We were at Epcot on a Friday during Lent - so we stopped there for lunch (hubby won't do veggie burgers so our choices were limited and I will eat some fish - think Long John Silver's type of fish - nothing fishy tasting). I did enjoy the Fish & Chips very much so that when we go to Disney at that same time of year, it is the Friday meal of choice.
