Imaybe kids could get a little "passport" stamped with their DOB or something?

Cant say I agree with that one, how am I supposed to get my kids to lie about their age to get in without a ticket !

Last vacation, my poor daughter was totaly confused about her age as we kept drumming it into her she was a year younger than she was (incase she was asked "how old are you then little girl?")....although it was pretty neat for her to gain 2 years instead of 1 on her next birthday.

hehe ;-)

The beauty there was that she had no idea she was telling lies :-)

Every time we were asked on entry, we simply said we had come to Disney for her birthday, which was "next week".....but if I recall, we were only asked twice how old she was, and even then it seemed just like friendly conversation rather than trying to catch us out.

I'll be doing the same with my youngest next May, who will be 3yrs 1 month.......er....2 years 11 months that is :-)

I am now concious of the fact that I have turned a thread about a tragic loss of life into one about fraud and light hearted humour....not the best thing I have ever done....stopping now.

Has anyone seen anything in the papers about what caused the death? I believe the autopsy didn't reveal anything abnormal. I just wondered if they'd found anything out.

What I find most interesting about this thread is how civil it is (as compared to the numerous other threads on the DIS about this tragedy).

I'm not sure requirements by age will do the trick -- different children mature and gain intelligence at different rates.

All Disney can do is set down guidelines, parental discretion must come into at some stage, Tron(ads) is spot on, only parents know how their child might react to certain rides and it's their responsibility to judge whether a ride is suitable or not - I'm not saying anything about the poor family that suffered the loss, but 8.6 million people have been on the ride 'enjoying' the experience as it was intended.

Perhaps they could put in suggested age requirements or give more info. about the ride at the entrance to it (I wonder if parents take kids on rides without even knowing what to expect themselves?).

Well, there are "no less than 13 warning signs addressing pregnancy, height minimums, motion sickness, high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, and a recommendation that you be in good health" -- isn't that enough of a clue to parents that this isn't It's a Small World? :confused3 It doesn't seem evident to me (at least not yet) that age, specifically, had much to do with this tragedy, except with regard to how much emotion the tragedy has evoked.

Specifically, the autopsy found no trauma.

I agree with you that they put sufficient warnings up, I was just wondering if there was any benefit in giving a brief description of the ride itself?

Perhaps it would make people realise it's not a "standard roller coaster" type ride and therefore make parents think twice about taking kids on. Who knows what the answer is?

Can't remember Disney rides specifically, but I know that when I went on The Mummy at Universal there was a detailed warning sign :scared1: outlining what the ride entailed, I remember as I was trying to con my mate on who was scared of coasters only to be confronted with the awful truth just as we were about to board - an exit door was right by the side of the sign and my mate beat a hasty retreat! :dancer:
