I've read that you can walk from Epcot to MGM - is there a map anywhere that shows the route? I can't find one and didn't know you can do this!

Thanks

Ang

We did this one time and by the time we finished walking :cool1:, we were dead!!!

We actually walked from the International Gateway at Epcot to Beaches and Cream (which isn't that bad of a walk and gave us a short break). Then we just followed the waterway because we knew that the ferry boats went from Epcot to MGM and would eventually have to led to MGM. At one point near MGM, we had to actually cross a highway and then part of the parking lot and it was quite a haul, but it can be done - just follow the water.

Take the Water Ferry from Epcot to MGM. It's about a 20 minute ride and it's quite pleasurable.

The walkway is on the far right of this map.

Here's a pic of it.

The walkway goes under the highway & doesn't go into the parking lot. :confused3

Anyways, it's about a 15 minute walk from the Boardwalk.

Edited to add: You can take a shortcut through the Boardwalk Hotel. Cut through the hotel lobby(?) towards the main pool. Go past the pool towards the waterway & turn left on the walkway. Saves a few steps & you can take a peek at the beautiful Boardwalk Resort from the inside!

Depending on the weather and your willingness to walk, it's a very nice walk. We do it all the time. We are very fast walkers and we can make it from the IG exit of Epcot to the front gate of the Studios in less than half an hour.

The boat ride is very nice too, but we love to walk...

The walk isn't bad, and there is plenty to look at along the way =) If you're feeling like you need a nice break, the boat is great as well!

Just exit at the International Gateway between UK and France =)

I walked the opposite way, from MGM to Epcot one night. Out of curiosity, I timed my walk-exited MGM at 7:44, entered IG at Epcot at 8:14 (looked at my watch with the security man's flashlight at the entrance. This was before I knew of a little shortcut to save a few steps, too-when you're walking along the Boardwalk, take a left just before the Screen Door, past the Wayland Gallery (I think); go thru the "tunnel" to the Boardwalk pool (there's restrooms and a workout room you'll pass in the "tunnel"), bear left around the pool and out onto the walkway toward MGM.

The walk is not bad in January, but it is much longer in June. :sunny:

Quite right :)

That's why there are boats :boat: and, if you get a couple of "fun" captains, the boat ride is more fun too :teeth:

Thanks for all the replies :)

I love walking - all I have to do is tell the family that it really is only a short walk ;)

The walk is great to be able to see the Fantasmic early show [ during off season] and then hussle to EPCOT for the 9:00 pm Illuminations. You can walk it faster than the boat since it stops at all of the resorts. Or at least I can but I do walk 3 miles every morning.

What a great idea! I hadn't thought of that.

Don't forget there is also a bus. On our last trip we hopped over to MGM after spending the morning at EPCOT. :wave2:
