Here is what I decided this trip...
If I can not have a room in the castle- I want a room with a great view of the castle for the next 50 years.

Yes, we got DVC. Bay Lake Towers is our new home.
We plan on using it for a trip in October to take my parents for their 20th anniversary. The kids still do not know. It did come a a price- we will have to cancel our Nov 2010 DCL trip. DH and I have decided that for the price of the cruise we could pay off almost 40% of the DVC points and the cruise will be around for a long time also.

You could always use your points for a cruise also. We did that last May. We used points for my dh and myself for our Western Caribbean cruise, and then cash for the kids (since you are basically paying for just food for the 3rd and 4th person). We then stopped at WDW after the cruise using points also. I hope that you will enjoy your DVC purchase as much as we have enjoyed ours!

For those of you who just bought DVC, did you use a referral? Because if you did, they were giving you a DCL cruise (either 3, 4 or 7 night depending on how many points you purchased). A gentlemen from Las Vegas used my name as a referral, and ended up with a free 7 night cruise.

We opted for an extra $1000 off instead of the cruise. We were given a 3 day cruise choice and they leave on Sunday so they don't work for us (DH is a pastor).

We got a total of $20 a point- brought it to $92 a point which was what the price was when we first toured about 2.5 years ago. At that time though we were only available on weekends and between the rates we could get at Shades of Green (Dh is retired military) and the Fl resident discounts it wasn't worth it- none of the places tempted us like Bay Lake.

Our first trip planned is to Old Key West- Sept 23-26th- DH has class on the 25th and 26th and his birthday is the 25th (birthday card)

Our 2nd trip is Oct 21-24 currently in Saratoga Springs but we are wait listed for some others. (DH has class on the 23rd and 24th.

For both of the above trips we will check in on Wednesday night after church- about 9-10pm and then check out on Saturday morning- Dh will take his class and then pick me up in the evening.

Our 3rd trip - booked at the time of purchase is for a Bay Lake view at bay Lake on Nov 22-24 for my birthday.

I will be calling to schedule a trip for January 10-14th for another class for DH- he will have class every day that week (Mon-Fri).

Depending on where we stay we will have to borrow between 5 and 15 points for the January stay- unless we end up in Boardwalk with a standard view in which case I will bank a the last couple of points we have until our new use year(February).
