Epcot: Suggestion on where to dine

Last year was my first trip and on the day that we visited Epcot, we dined at Coral Reef. Loved the atmosphere, but want to try something different this trip. What are your suggestions for Epcot? My family is DH, Me, DS(10), DD's (8 and 2). I am trying to avoid a character meal simply because it gets exhausting having to get up every 5 min to pose with a character (and on this trip we have 4 character meals already).

Oh, and as far as picky eaters....none of us really are. We like to try anything once, but we are looking for something that will only take 1TS credit.

I would venture into World Showcase and try one of my family's favorites, Biergarten, in Germany. It has a great buffet (lunch price is slightly less) with lots of different salads, soup, bread, roasted chicken, schnitzel, red cabbage, and much more. The desserts are delicious and of course, you can get beer and wine if you like.

Go to Italy. They have amazing salmon and desserts to die for! 1ts credit each.

We've done counter service meals at:

Sunshine Seasons = great food / noisy and crowded
Morocco = good food / GREAT baklava -omg / great ambience
Electric Umbrella = not good food / grumpy cm's / noisy & crowded

We've done table service meals at:

Akershus Princess Breakfast - if you get the first ADR you get into Epcot early Yay! food is delicious too!

Biergarten - my husband loved this place (2004) probably because the beer but I can't remember the food / it was fun to dance and sing with the kids to the music

This year we plan on doing La Cellier and San Angel Inn

& must get more baklava!!!

I enjoyed Le Cellier and Restaurant Marrakesh. Those are both 1 TS credit.

I did NOT like Les Chefs de France, so I would recommend you avoid making an ADR there.

We have eaten in Germany, Japan, Norway, and Canada. My vote would be for Teppan Edo! Not only is the food excellent - the entertainment for the kids is great! I don't know about you but I have DS10 who sucked out all my energy out of me when I was pregnant with him and DD3 who can get fidgety if not kept interested. This was a fun dinner for all.

Only downside - the portions were not enough to fill my DH so he learned to just pick off our plates.

We've done them all. With your crew of "non-picky" eaters, I think Biergarten is a great choice. Chefs de France is also a good choice -- it is consistently the best food and great service. If anything, its not quite adventurous enough for adventurous eaters. As far as the rest:

Le Cellier - Good food, appreciation of the atmosphere depends greatly on the person
Rose and Crown - Good food, atmosphere inside is okay, outside is great, but you can't be sure which you'll get
Marrakesh - Good food, atmosphere is great
Japan - Has changed too much since our last visit there, to comment
Tutto Italia - Really expensive, not very good food or service
Nine Dragons - Not really good food
Akershus - Princess meal
San Angel Inn - Good food, decent atmosphere, though some folks feel it is too dark

I like Le Cellier
Chefs de France- For lunch not dinner. Lunch just seems more laid back and pleasureable.
Tokyo Dining-which has very good sushi

I do not like Mexico. I can get it elsewhere where the food is better and cheaper. I feel the same about China

We love eating in WS at Epcot, I think we have eaten at every TS except Norway and China.
I did not really enjoy the Biergarten on our last trip. I was not impressed by the buffet and the entertainment was very quick. Maybe my expectations were too high.
I love Teppan Edo in Japan. The food is great, the service is excellent and the chef's do a great job entertaining while they cook.
We also love Restaurant Marrakesh in Morroco. A beautiful restaurant with warm service and good food. The Belly Dancer is fun and engages the young ones at the end of her performance.
We have also enjoyed Le Cellier and Rose & Crown and would return to either.
San Angel Inn in Mexico was the surprise of your trip 2 years ago. I almost cancelled the ADR due to all the negative reviews here on the DIS. But we enjoyed it very much. The service was perfect, attentive but not hovering, the food was very good and we enjoyed the atmosphere a lot. I did not find it too dark nor did I feel the tables were any closer together than all of the restaurants in WS.
For CS we enjoy:
Cantina de San Angel in Mexico, Sommerfest in Germany, Yakatori House in Japan, Tangerine Cafe in Morrocco, the French Bakery in France, and Harry Ramsdens Fish and Chips in England

Based on the other posts you should be able to see that everyone has their own tastes / likes or dislikes. Plus, it is safe to assume that you will get pretty good food and decent service at all of them. But, with that being said, we really enjoy Biergarten. Good entertainment without any character stress and lots of choices at the buffet. Plus, any restaurant with Bier (or Beer) in it's name, has to be at least pretty good.

My goal is to try all the countries' restaurants at some point, so I've been picking one for each trip and we'll work our way around!

So far we've tried LeCellier (liked Coral Reef better) and San Angel Inn (I was dying to dine in that atmosphere -- but I still think I liked Coral Reef better!). I think on our next trip it's time to try Tutto Italia. It gets mixed reviews, but the pics on the food porn thread look to die for, and since we do the dining plan, the pricey-er the better!

My favorite for food and atmosphere is Biergarten. We never travel with little kids but I've see kids get up and dance in front of the band and they seem to have a blast. It's either just my DH and myself or us with our two boys (18 and 21 yrs old). My 18 yr old can be a picky eater and he found enough food he liked on the buffet. I'm not a big sweet eater and loved that there was fresh fruit next to the desserts.

When DH and I went alone we liked Le Cellier very much. The food and service were awesome.

I loved the Rose and Crown in UK (I think that's the name... having a brain fart at the moment ) I got the fish and chips but then a fish fry is one of my favorites. It's a staple where I live on Friday nights at any local pub/restaurant. I got fresh fruit as dessert and it was done up so cute in a tall thin glass. It was as yummy as it was attractive.

Next trip I want to try eating in Morracco, Mexico and Japan I love that you can go as often as you want and never get bored

Le Cellier is a steakhouse that has been highly recommended so we made reservations there.

My backup choice was San Angel Inn which is a mexican restaurant in Mexico. We ate there on our last visit and liked it.

We love Le Cellier and Teppan Edo....... these two are "must sees" when we are in Epcot.

We also enjoyed Tutto Italia, we were hesitant because of the poor reviews we read; but the food and service was great.

So far we have tried only a few in WS

Akershers breakfast it was good but a character meal which you are trying to avoid

Teppen Edo we liked it at the time but not enough to go back. Once we hit our local Hibatchi place that opened our opinion of Teppen Edo went down drastically. Compared to the 3 hibatchi places we now have locally TE is horrible.

Les Chefs we did in Dec for lunch and we all loved it. Food was good, service was great and we got to see Remy which was a surprise. It was a last minute ADR and we were glad we went with that one because our other choice was Beirgarten and ughhh I could not get over the smell around the place.
