Epcot Reusable Bag

We were there two weeks ago, and plastic bags were still in full use. Whenever I bought something, the CM would pull out a plastic bag first. I did buy a few reusable bags, mostly as souvenirs, honestly, but there was no shortage of plastic bags. And the items sent back to our resort were sent in plastic bags, firmly stapled closed.

My Epcot reusable bag tore on our trip. The outer design part of the bag is separate from the inside. Mine tore where the handles attach to the bag. There's a seam there. It's still usable. However, I have had reusable bags do this before. If i keep using it, eventually the outer design part will separate and kind of peel off:( So, they aren't the sturdiest.

Just curious: what are the reusable bags at WDW made of? We have a large supply of reusable grocery bags at home and they don't last forever. We've found that once they break, flake or tear, we still need to send them to a landfill. On the other hand plastic grocery bags can be recycled in our community.
I understand the whole environmental impact mission, but am not sure some of these steps really make a difference.
Flame away....
they are made of 80% recycled plastic bottles, so the bags themselves can be recycled

If they are made of recycled plastic, are they made so they will keep your purchases dry during our Florida afternoon monsoons? The free bags did. There are a lot of items for sale that I would want to keep dry in the rain. Even of you wear a poncho the wind can blow it and get you wet underneath. I would actually care less about keeping myself dry than keeping my purchases dry.

Not that I will be buying any bags anyway. . .

if you manage to tie a closed enough knot they will keep things dry inside, it's just harder to do that because of the way they are designed
