Epcot Restaurants - Take out

Hi!
We are staying at the Beach Club Villas with an infant and expect to do a fair share of dining in. We thought we might be able to grab food from Epcot and bring it back to the room as it is a short walk aways - depending on the country, I guess. Anyhow, if we would like food from the new Italian restaurant, can we do an order for takeout?

Thanks!

I don't know about the table service places but I can tell you that you can get food to go at any of the counter service places with no problems. Really helps when the husband wants a burger and fries in AMerica, I want fried rice and egg rolls in China and the son wants nachos from Mexico.

And those egg rolls from the Lotus Blossom Cafe stay hot for a long time.

No take out from table services - or if it happens its the rare exception. Used to be you could usually do it, but with the dining plan, the kitchens are running at capacity and it is almost never done now

1) It is also not done, because they don't know the recipient.
2) You could be taking it to a non-DDP person.

what is the policy on left overs/ doggie bags from a sit down not a buffet? Will they allow you to take it home?

The OP didn't mention that they were on the DDP

No, but they don't let anyone do takeout except as the rare exception - DDP or no DDP. Rusty probably has part of it right - DDP diners don't like it when the rules are different for them, so if DDP dinners aren't transferable, the takeout loophole needs to be closed for everyone.

We're just back from OKW and I can tell you they don't let you get take out from Olivia's. Seems kind of silly as I wanted just to get one of their key lime tarts (yum yum) to bring back to the room one night and they said "no take out."

Most of the resort restaurants do allow take out, in my experience. Olivia's went to "no take out" a year or so ago. Not sure why, but I'm thinking they had a high take-out volume given the OKW setup. Given the horrible menu available at Good's to Go, it was the wrond decision, IMHO.

I have heard from several posters that Le Cellier has allowed take-out on the Cheddar Cheese Soup, but have never personally gotten take out from them. I have done take-out at Artist Point, Jiko, and Kona.

I don't understand this. The food is paid for. What do they care after the food leaves the restaurant, they're not losing anything by it. DH and I are both on the plan, no one else in our party/resort room. We want to bring the food back to the hotel the night we get there, I don't see the difference if we order it to go, or actually go in, get a table, order the food, then ask it to be doggy bagged. :confused3

Because the deal with the DDP is it isn't transferable - you can't use your credits to feed someone else. Why they care - well, my own opinion is that breakage (not using all your credits) is figured into the cost and that anything that lowers breakage means the DDP ends up with the DDP being less profitable.

But the deal is whatever the reason, they do care and the credits are not transferable.

Of late, people have been being told no on the beer cheese soup as often as not.

Of course, if you go during the F&W festival, there is a beer cheese soup booth.

But I'm not transfering anything. Like I said, both DH and I, the only 2 people in our party, are on DDP. Whether we order it as take out or get seated, then get the food doggy bagged, the food is still going to leave the restaurant. IMO it's more wasted effort/table to seat us, so we can just get the food to go anyway. For all they know I'm taking my many leftovers to our stowaway member of the family we left in the resort room  I know you don't make the rules, I'm just clarifying my confusion. :sad2:
