Anyone know where a good shaded picnic area/(place to sit and eat 5 people) is in future world, or should I just head into Sunshine Seasons and grab a table? Thanks

I agree with PP. There really aren’t any “picnic” areas in Future World.
The tables at Sunshine Seasons are for paying guests who buy their food there, not for “picnickers” with their food brought in.

There is usually ample seating inside Sunshine Seasons, if you want to be more out of the way, the "winter season" section over by The Land is less used. Honestly, I don't think it would be a problem, if for any reason you feel weird about it, go buy a drink from Sunshine Seasons and enjoy the free refills! Some of your best memories at Disney can be the little things like this, I say enjoy yourself. It's not like you are bringing in your food to a Table Service. There are also seats lining the walk-way up to the Land building, with trees and some little bit of shade.

In future world there are a few trees and there is grass, but I wouldn't recommend going into the lawn, it is usually bad form to walk over grass or sit on the grass. If everyone did it, the lawn would be wrecked. I recall there being some areas with benches around Mission Space/Test Track.

There are outside tables in the American pavilion

As long as there are not people waiting, I would be comfortable sitting at any qs seating area

If it is heavy crowds w people waiting, then sitting on a bench would be your best bet

I think @Pumbaa_ suggestion of the Tables outside of the American Pavilion is great!

I would have suggested that, but they asked about future world specifically. There are some other places around World Showcase sure.

1) As mentioned, near ENERGY is about the only place to try to picnic.
2) Disney is not fond of providing picnic areas where they don't sell the food (example: You bring in your own sandwiches).
3) The best idea would be to buy a soft drink at the eatery and sit
. . . inside Sunshine
. . . inside or outside at Electric Umbrella

Thanks everyone. I would be buying drinks anyway so Sunshine Seasons will work. Because of FP thats the area we will be in so World Showcase is out. I will look at the energy area. Dont necessarily need picnic tables, just shaded area to sit and grab a quick bite. We have Dining reserved in WS later that evening, just wanted to do some quick bites for lunch. We pay for annual passes, resort stays and dining ressies a lot, so Im not concerned with grabbing a table when there is plenty to grab a quick bite when Disney allows you to bring it in.

There is a nice little bumped in area between the Festival Center and TT. It might be the smoking area but there are rarely people there and there is a seating area.

The issue is “ When there are plenty to grab”. That is NOT always the case

Wanted to update this thread since Im back and others may want to know. There is an area behind the Fountain View, near the character spot, that exits into Imagination area. It has some tables and chairs and sofas. There was always an open table both days I went through there. (during spring break). Mostly people cooling off or charging phones. Seen a few picnickers there. Good place for this type of thing. Also at HS there were plent of tables outside with umbrellas across from A Frozen Sing A Long. Saw a few picnics there also.
