We are trying to decide if we want to try one of the Japan restuarants when we go to WDW in Feb. We are used to the Japanese Steakhouse fare we get here. Including this really awesome sauce they put on our chicken. (We call it heart attack sauce!:worship: ) We really enjoy watching them cook our meal at our table. It is part of the fun for us. Does anyone have any opinions on any of the Japan restaurants? We are steak and chicken people! Thanks!

You would enjoy it there. Very much like what you described. Good food and entertaining chefs.

I love all the restaurants in Japan. My only concern is if you have a set idea of what your local Japanese Steakhouse tastes like and the one in Japan may not hold up to your "heart attack sauce".

We have eaten at many out of state restuarants that do not have any sauce. It is just an added bonus.;) We look for great food and atmosphere.

The reason I like Tepan Edo (the Habachi restaurant in Japan) is because I don't the ones in our area measure up. If you have one in your area that you do like, I would suggest going elsewhere as I don't think it's an experience "unique" to Disney, they just do it well. As for Tokyo Dining, I have yet to go (hopefully February) but that's not Habachi.

What about families who don't want to be particularly sociable ;-) ... like sharing a table with a number of other guests? Is the Teppan Edo still an option?

Sorry, you will share a table. But you can be as "sociable" as you wish. I have been seated with people who kept completely to themselves both at Teppan Edo and at the Biergarden.

We love Teppan Edo but we don't go to those kinds of restaurants around here.

I'm pretty interested in hearing reviews on Tokyo Dining as we have ADR's for our upcoming trip.

I loved both Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining. I think I had the best service I have ever had at any restaurant ever at Tokyo Dining (Thank You Hai!), and my experience at Teppan Edo was very enjoyable (as was the food).

One thing that I found at Teppan Edo was that the level of expertise of the person preparing the food can vary greatly. The person that prepared ours didn't do the extravagant show that I would expect in this environment (but she was very personable and the food was GREAT!), but at a nearby table I saw someone cooking who went all out. It didn't make a difference to me for my dining experience, but if you really want the show as well as the dining experience you may be disappointed.

Overall, I would say that I would have no hesitation to return to either restaurant, as I enjoyed both experiences immensely.

If the heart attack sauce is the white sauce or shrimp sauce - teppan edo has a very good one. We ate there last week and enjoyed it.

I have a 15yo DS that LOVES fish but for my self can not stand fish even the smell:sad2: .I would like to take my DS here,he loves Japanese food(sushi) do they carry enough chicken and steak to hold me over?.

We really liked Teppan Edo, but we don't think it is as unique as some of the other restaurants. We thought the food was similar to a Benihana (maybe a little better), but it's the same concept. The atmosphere was more authentic at WDW, though. So it really just depends on what you like - I think once was enough for us just because we can do a similar experience at home, but it was still very good. :thumbsup2
