Epcot in Summer (Stupid Hot + Rain)

Thanks for the suggestion. Would just have to see if my younger one would be ok riding alone. You are still together for the building of the cars right?
You bypass the car building if you go single rider. You'd be in line together until the ride loads.

If you really want to build a car and go single rider, you can build a car at a station in the gift shop and link it to your magic band.

Thanks for the tips about TT and single rider. Think our kids will want to do the full ride one time.

Yes stupid hot. No shade. Rain typically mid day in t storms. After that gets really muggy. Most waits are inside so it’s just getting between things really. World Showcase in rain no fun. Usually you can plan around by tracking weather.

Yeah thanks. That's why I'm researching the attractions that are indoors (or to know indoor but outside queue)...especially around the hottest part of the day.

And that's why I was asking about umbrellas for shade.

You can wit for most everyday inside. Spaceship Earth is outdoor but likely will be closed by then. Frozen can extend outside at times. Test track can also extend outside but that can be covered somewhat. In the front area allot of construction and really no shade. World Showcase not much shade also and only cover is in shops etc. midday is the worst time to be out however in the morning it can be 90+ already.

Thanks. Epcot seems like a good park for hot/wet weather...and mostly just World Showcase or queues that get long outside.
PS - I know August is not ideal time to go, but we have a short cruise booked then. It's out of Port Canaveral and so we thought we'd add a few Disney days beforehand since we are there and not sure when we can go otherwise.

Thanks for the warning about the Frozen line. If timing works, then will try for 4th FP. Otherwise, will check out the line but will skip it if it's bad. My DD will love it (and me too) but we all love Test Track (DS favorite from our trip in 2014) so want to make that our FP priority. He may even do single rider line for a second ride if DD and I end up trying Frozen.

Silly question....but do people bring umbrellas in the summer to block off the sun? Or is that too dangerous for the risk of poking someone?
Yes you will see people using umbrellas to block the sun, and you will see lots of them when it's raining. They sell them in the gift shops so they obviously don't consider them dangerous.

Thanks so much. Never done so before, but seems like it would work to at least cut down on the blaring sun.

You don't see many folks using an umbrella as a sun shade - but you will see a few. I highly suggest at least a hat with a brim for EPCOT in the sun - the glare from the sun can be bad there. Most everything to-do at EPCOT is inside and air-conditioned. The hard part is walking between the buildings and the lack of seating for breaks in the shade unless you are at a restaurant.

Just a note on shoes: we were in Orlando last August and both dd and I wore Chacos. Loved them for being able to get wet and the comfort but had to make sure we purposely walked through a few rain puddles through the day to keep them comfortable. The extreme heat had them feeling like they were melting to our feet!!! We just kept wetting them and continuing on.

FEA is probably the hardest FP to try to get day-of, so just mentally prepare yourself for that. It might work out, but if not, well, at least you knew the risk.

I never think to bring an umbrella on the really hot days and when I see people with their umbrellas I think "Oh man!!! Why didn't I think of that?!?!".

I can't recommend the cooling towels enough!!! The first time we went in August we didn't have them and boy, were we miserable! The next year we remembered to bring them and it made a huge difference!

Have a great trip!
