Epcot Hotel

I am not necessarily against this project, but I didn't like the initial design as it really obstructed the entrance. Now, especially with the beautification of the entrance, I wouldn't want to see it. If they could alter it somewhat though and keep it off enough from the entrance, that would be fine.

Looks like the plan for a hotel inside Epcot is still a go. The one thing that struck me from the article is "an in-park EPCOT boutique hotel may well fit in with Disney's post-COVID plans for lower attendance, offset with higher spending guests."

I don't put a lot of stock in it. All Pozek has seen so far is just feelers for construction bids. Companies do that all the time just for budgeting and to try to sell something to management, but they often do not act on it. I would be very surprised if they moved this forward when they just padded over the land for Reflections - it doesn't look like they have a big stomach right now for adding a lot more beds.

My opinion would be different if reflections were moving ahead full steam. Yes, I realize this hotel is a different concept. I will be the first to admit I could be wrong. It just doesn't smell right for them to launch a new 50-75 million dollar new construction from scratch with almost no plans or design yet with so many other shovel-ready jobs put on indefinite hold.

Money would be the reason. A new boutique Hotel would be a much higher ROI over any new attraction. It fits going after the higher spending guests.

I am not disagreeing with that necessarily. But again, Reflections was going to add 900 hotel rooms at a cost of 350 Million and it was a deluxe resort / DVC villas (so, higher spending guests) and it was already being built. At 50-75 million in the middle of the park, they are looking at maybe a 200 room hotel? So, it's in line with Halcyon in terms of size and probably the max they could charge per room would also be in-line (so maybe $1500 for 2 nights?). This is similar to what they could charge at Reflections (compare to a deluxe which can fetch upwards of $600-$1000 a night, and higher for DVC).

It's POSSIBLE for them to move it up. Anything is possible. I just think it's UNLIKELY when they already have other shovel ready projects that have earmarked funding - some of them hotels that already had work started and materials on site and they have already made it clear their appetite for increased spending is very low right now.

Add to that the only supporting evidence we have is a construction bid that happens all the time; not even permits or anything official. And even that is unconfirmed as no one else has been able to verify the accuracy or authenticity.

I am just saying if I were placing bets, I wouldn't bet any money on this rumor - at least not in the hotel being build before a 2024 opening.

I would also add that as far as I can tell, Ken Pozek is not exactly someone who is well known for following Disney News and Rumors. At least, I don't see much from him on Google other than this one thing he stumbled on. So, it's not like it's coming from an incredibly reliable source.
