We currently have 2 FP+ scheduled for Epcot- Soarin & Living with the Land. Can we try to grab a same day FP+ for Test Track once we've used these 2, or do we still have to pick and use a 3rd before getting another Tier 1 FP? Does it work the same with switching parks?

You'll need to use 3 before you can get another tier 1

As mentioned by others, you have to use the original 3 before you can get more, but I think you can schedule a throwaway non-tier 1 FP for the morning and not use it, once it expires that count towards your 3 and then you can try for Test Track. Does anyone have more info on this?

Also, is TT as a same day FP+ viable these days? I'm not sure.

Matt

Yea, I doubt TT going to be viable, unless its right near closing, the only time I get lucky with tier 1 at any parks is near closing and that used to be closing later than they are now.

Soaring is usually lower wait then TT, maybe try to swap the fast pass for TT instead especially since it rains in August. I always take TT as the fast pass because it becomes anytime if it rains making scheduling a little easier, plus if you are already in line you get to come back instead of sitting on the floor for 45 minutes plus until they reopen.

You'll have to use the 3rd for another tier 2 and then you can try for another tier 1.
Personally I'd use your initial tier 1 for TT and just do SB for Soarin' if you are unable to get a 4th FP+ for it.

From the FP FAQ, Post #8:
A second Group 1 attraction in the same park can be scheduled only as a 4th FP or beyond. In other words, scheduling less than 3 FPs for a day in a tiered park is not a shortcut to getting a second Group 1 FP in the same park faster.

I've been seeing more same day FP+ for Soarin'. I would probably switch your current one to TT and then try and pick up Soarin' as a fourth

You can schedule a Tier 1 for another park for your 3rd FP, but only after you scan in for your first FP.

If you want to get a FP for Test Track, you will have to use three FP in Epcot first. (Or let them expire, but it's quicker to use the third at the beginning of your window.)

Soarin' is easy to get as a 4th FP, much easier than Test Track. I agree with PPs and would FP Test Track instead.

I also want to mention that if you arrive early (prior to rope drop) and you line up facing The Land once you're in Epcot prior to opening, getting on Soarin' twice in 45 min. is very easy. I suppose it depends on time of year, though, so for reference, DH and I did this in August last year.

One more point! Test Track breaks down pretty frequently, so I would get FP+ for TT to have a better chance of getting on the ride. If it does break down, they'll give you an anytime, any ride FP+. You could always use it for Soarin' if that happened.

It takes a bit of persistence, but you can get just about any tier 1 FP+ as a 4th, even well before park closing. We just did it, and I got FEA, TT, Soarin', 7DMT multiple times each. I even got Na'vi and FOP that way...though I definitely would not count on that no matter how persistent you are, that was luck. The rest aren't super hard.

I don't understand this.

Are you saying I can schedule a Tier 1 and Tier 2 in Epcot, and schedule a Tier 1 in AK as my third FP? [after first scanning one FP in Epcot]
Does this work? Why does this work?

Yes, it works. Why? Because Disney wants you to pay for park hoppers, I guess. ;-)

On our trip last month, one day I only pre-scheduled one FP for the day, for Test Track. As soon as I scanned in, I made FP for RnR and ToT for late afternoon.

Post #4 from the FP FAQ Addendum:
When_2 or less FP+ are booked for Park #1:
Additionally, the new changes allow you to book fewer than three FP+ and once you scan the first FP+ (from within the first park), you can at that point make FP+ selections for a different park, even if you still have a FP+ remaining in the first park.

This can be especially helpful for Tiered parks – if for example you wish to hit Epcot at rope drop, use only a Tier 1 FP+ and then still have 2 more FP+ for another park later in the day.

Additionally, there is no restriction on Tier requirements BETWEEN PARKS during one day. So if you use a Tier 1 at Epcot you can then book a second Tier 1 at HS immediately upon scanning – Also, you can even book your remaining two FP+ at two different parks if you would like!

NOTE: Splitting FP+ between parks or booking for another park can NOT be done until the same day, AFTER you have already scanned your card/MB at the first FP+ Mickey head to “prove” to the system that you’re in a park.

You cannot book for 2 different parks in advance or even on the same day until you have scanned your first FP+ (not just gotten into the park).

We had frozen ride as fast pass. We canceled our third fast pass and was lookoking for soarin. It made me pick another ride and let it expire before we got a soarin. Actually could have gotten another soarin right after. But never saw a test track.
