I heard that the Epcot Fountain was drained over the week-end. Anybody have any news on this? We loved this fountain, especailly at night. I am looking foreward to sharing it with my parents in late February.

It seems that every time i have been there the fountain has been off. I remeber once there was even plywood over it. The last time however it was open. As far as latelly i havent heard that it was closed. This is a perfect time to done some repairs on it however.

My AllEars newsletter said it is closed indefinately or something to that effect. I am very sad about this too. We love the fountain. It is an attraction in itself.

Closed forever... man thats crap i always loved watching that. Im glad i had a video of that now that its gone... now if i could only find out where that flipped tape is...

Is this the fountain that shoots water up, timed with music?

ah man...that sucks! good thing honey and I taped some of it during the holidays...

what they really need to do is drain splash mountain and get some fresh water in there...man, after you get soaked you STINK for the rest of the day...heheh

I saw that in the All Ears newsletter too, and was wondering why they would close it with no estimated time to be back? I mean, if it needs repairs, obviously it will be closed to fix it, but they should know how long that would take. Is the water too expensive for them now to run the fountain?

Pleeeaaaassseee say it ain't so-this is one of the reasons I go to Epcot. A complete bummer in my book, I could sit and watch that all day.

Last week it was most definitely closed. But I did see workers trudging through it from afar during the day. I assume this is just a winter refurb.

Wait, "closed indefinitely" does not always mean "closed forever".

The fountain is probably going through some renovations. When we were there last August, we noticed that some of the air jets were not working as they used to and we saw one of the air hoses flying around loose in the fountain. It was "fixed" the next day, but I am sure they need to do some work on the whole thing.

The fountain is a pretty popular part of that area of Epcot, I doubt they would just fill it in.

When we were at WDW in early April, 2001 the fountain was drained for our entire stay. We asked every day at Guest Services & the answer was always "we don't know how long it will be down" or "indefinitely". Grabbing something from the Fountainview or Electric Umbrella & sitting down to watch the fountain perform is, for us, one of the great attractions at Epcot. I sure can't see them shutting it down permanently.

I hope this is temporary thing and they are only refurbishing the fountain as it is one of our favorite things at Epcot...... I do have pictures of my DH just standing there mesmerized...I am not telling him this.. he may never go back.. ;) :)

The fountain has been off for about 3 weeks now. Almost every time that I go over there there are alot of workers all around the area. It looks like most of the work is being concentrated on the upper level but they are working on the lower jets at times.

I was there when they took out Splash Mountain. They drained the water and was working on the mountain and the water shoots.

I'm wondering if the cold snap they had caused some damage to the pipes?
