***Epcot Food And Wine Festival Info 2008***

Maybe I missed it, but I have DDE and am also a DVC member and AP holder. I realize I can't use DDE for events but are there DVC or AP discounts? For some reason I remember getting a discount a few years ago for Party of the Senses with either DVC or AP but I could be insane.

Nope..no discounts, priced as they are for everyone.

Thanks for your patience with me guys. :-) So, here's my million dollar question...any of my fellow "first weekers" thinking of shelling out $450 a ticket for the Bocuse d'Or Gala?

I would totally love to. That line up of chefs and specials guest is going to make for an outstanding evening.

...snipped from article... Andreas Larsson, Best Sommelier of the World 2007, surprised wine and perfume specialists alike with a completely new approach to tasting which revealed the similarity between wine and perfume aromas. After their initial surprise, the guests showed great interest in this unusual subject.

Lively discussions ensued and happy pairings between Baron Philippe de Rothschild wines and the perfumes were found. Mouton Cadet, the official wine partner of the Cannes Film Festival, found some exceptional matches during the wine & perfume experience.

I'm sorry, but this reply is just rude. Did you even read the article that redzinner linked to? If it's something that Andreas Larsson is currently doing with his wine tastings, then I'd say there's something to it. Unfortunately, the event starts before we arrive in WDW, so we won't be able to attend that day. I look forward to seeing the reviews. To each, their own... :flower3:

You are so sweet, if anyone knows her wine and events and keeps up with the cutting edge things it is redzinner. Gotta love her!

Is that all there is???????? I am sooooo disappointed in the offerings for the time we will be there. This is our first and it will definitely be our last. Thank goodness I love disney and will occupy myself with dining at Disney restaurants. Sorry to say this, but all the hype I've read about this "festival" doesn't seem to be panning out . It looked so very good in years gone bye that I couldn't wait to go. This is definitely not what I thought it would be.

Food and wine fest isn't just special events. I definately wouldn't just give up on it. It is different every year, some years better than others, and there is so much to do, even with free events (if you can get into them, people line up hours in advance).

Although this is true, Dh and I are still hugely disappointed in the special events this year. We have been going for longer and longer periods during the festival (this year 2 1/2 weeks), with our plan being to eventually stay for the whole festival. If this year is an example of future cut backs, then our long term plans will definitely change.

Honestly, even though there are fewer events..there are more "big name" stars/ celebrity people than I can ever remember. I think this is great.

Looks like a transistion year to me. We are going to fully enjoy this year and then look forward to next year like we always do!

I also have DDE and I am an AP and a Florida resident and haven't gotten anything. I did get my Mickey Monitor big deal.:rolleyes1

Lucky you, our mickey monitor makes it to us maybe once a year.
Totally annoying!

This is the first year my brochure made it to me before the booking date, I was totally surprised!

I see you are in South Florida where maybe? Maybe its the location:rotfl2: I'm in Davie.

I jokingly said to my husband, "Oh awesome! Night Ranger will be at Food and Wine for a concert the weekend we're there!"

I barely remember them so I was shocked when he responded, "I love Night Ranger!" and began to belt out a frighteningly accurate rendition of "Sister Christian."

Does anyone know how early people line up for the Eat to the Beat concerts? I know that Night Ranger is wildly popular so I imagine the wait will be hours. :rotfl:

You don't even have to line up early unless you really need to sit down and watch the concert, most everyone ends up standing and dancing anyway.
We always just stand in the back. You can see and hear everything perfectly.

12yrs Hiatus 38 in Broward. Maybe we have the same mailman:lmao: .

Oh, I hope not, lol. We have a different mailperson everyday and they can't get my mail right to save their lives. Depending on what day I have neighbors from all around the neighborhood delivering my mail to me because they continually put it in wrong box. (you aren't a mailperson are you??)

This is going to be my first time booking the 'extra' events for the festival. We were thinking of booking the PFTS and a Cheese Tasting (both are on Saturday).

The cheese tasting is from 2:30 - 3:45 and the PFTS is from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. For those that have done these, is this too much for one day? (BTW, we aren't novice drinkers and can handle our alcohol!) :rolleyes1

We found the cheese tasting to be quite fascinating. Learned a lot about cheese. Now, we were given a lot of cheese as well. We were a little full. The wine isn't the problem. Cheese is very filling.

There will be cheese available at PFTS, but for us it was more about the presentation than just eating the cheese. Given the price, I don't know if we'll do a cheese tasting again, but it was very interesting to do once. But next time, I'd probably sample the cheeses and then wrap up what's left in a napkin and take it back to the room for another day :)

:rotfl2: no I am not a mailperson. We also have a different mailperson:scared1: . Now our other one retired and he was great when he would go on vacation it took more then on person to do his job:confused3 . My mail comes from the Plantation office even though there is one right up the street:confused:

We did the Sake, Sushi and Sashimi tasting a few years ago and loved it. We'd like to do it again, and though we'll have a big group with us the only other person we think might be interested is our 17-year-old nephew. Do they allow under-21s in these events? I realize they won't serve him the alcohol (though it'd be nice if DH and I could share his), but I don't see anything about whether he's even allowed to attend.
