Epcot Flower/Garden Show Pros/Cons

We went to the opening weekend of the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival and had some pros and cons:

Pros
* It makes a beautiful park even better.
* The Ultimate Backyard Garden was outstanding.
* Plenty of interactive features and exhibits.
* Playgrounds for the kids

Cons
* Too many "standard" flowers and plants. By standard, I mean you could go to Home Depot and see the same thing.
* Why don't they leave these playgrounds/climbing things up permanently? The kids LOVED it, and the overhead cant be that much.

Anyone else notice anything like this?

Was this your first visit to the F&GF? I hope the Pros outweighed the Cons for you?

We loved the Festival, just thought it could be better with a couple tweaks. Weather was just perfect.

I can't believe I missed the F&G show by one week! The weather was beautiful when we left. Glad to hear it stayed beautiful for your visit.

DH and I especially enjoyed the doggie maze! It was wonderful!

We were just there (4/17 - 25) and I LOVED the flower and garden festival! But since we were with our kids (5 & 9) I didn't get to see much. Next April vacation I am going to take some time to myself to really walk around EPCOT and enjoy it.

I did buy two plant hangers from the folks who were almost in front of the McDonald's place and I am waiting for them to arrive.

My kids had fun climbing the structure but it made me a wreck! I think there was a sign saying it was for kids over 5 or 6..????...but there were lots of toddlers trying to climb it. DS9 was up on the top talking to a kid from CT about Pokemon and having the time of his life.

We missed it by ONE DAY I was really bummed...I feel your pain!


I agree about the commonality of the plants they have used in the past I think they should showcase more new and rare things things that would really spark us seasoned gardeners. But I also think they need these commoners to inspire new gardeners or people just getting the addiction so to speak.
