EPCOT FastPass Fireworks Viewing Area on July 4?

We will be at EPCOT on July 4th. We've done MK on the 4th twice in the past so we've experienced those crowds. Both times we've just staked out an area on Main Street a few hours ahead of time and waited for the show. As I started making our FastPass reservations today I'm intrigued by the idea of the FastPass viewing area for Illuminations on the 4th. I don't like the idea of giving up my tier 1 choice and the fact that we'd be limited to just those 3 fastpasses that day but if i can really get a good viewing area without having to stake out so far in advance that day, it seems like it is worth consideration.

Anyhow... any thoughts on the fastpass viewing area in particular for Illuminations? About the idea of using the fastpass for it? How good of a place is that area for watching the show compared to other areas around the lagoon? In general, any tips on the best place to watch it from on the 4th?

thanks in advance.

I was debating the exact same thing! Curious to hear people's suggestions.

I am leaning toward that if it is available. The views from that area are very good.

I came on here to search for the same thing! There are fast passes available right now, so I snagged it as my tier 1 (just to be safe). I currently have a reservation for Spice Road table at 8:05 and am hoping we can watch Illuminations from there. But, now I'm starting to question that decision. We're planning a full day at Epcot - no hotel breaks - so I want to get the best use of our time, enjoy and take it easy...

I'll dig around some more and see what I can find in other threads...
