I know it's been discussed many times but I am looking at doing QS DDP in September for Food & Wine. It will cost DH and I $370 for both of us for 4 nights/5 days. It seems like a good deal but I don't know how the counter service meals exchange for snack credits.

Is it one QS meal = 3 snack credits? So if each of us gets 2 snacks and 2 meals then we each get 8 snacks per day? At F&W that could work out really well is we can do that. We would rather walk around and eat from the booths anyway. Any info or suggestions would be appreciated!

One thing that held me back from getting it last year was that you need to use the one QS credit for 3 snacks at 1 booth. If you guys don't find 3 things you want you will have to end up spending OOP.
I don't think there were many booths where we each didn't get something plus a 3rd thing, but being there a few days we found favorite things and wanted them again, so we did end up getting one or two things here and there.
We each also got an alcoholic beverage at every booth and IIRC you can't use the credit for those. If I am wrong I hope someone will correct me.

It takes a lot of planning to maximize your credits to make the DDP work for F & W. IMO your are better off taking the money you would use for the dining plan & putting it on a gift card to use at the F & W booths. If you didn't have to use your entire QS credit at one booth it might work out to be a good deal. But finding food items that add up to enough money at each booth to make it worth trading a QS credit for is not easy except for a few booths. You can not use the credits on any of the alcoholic drinks.

AND we don't know if the booths are even going to do the exchange this year. The 1QS - 3 snacks has never been an official way to use a QS credit, but has been done throughout the parks in the past. When Disney actually spelled out the ability to exchange the dessert/drink portion of a QS for snacks, it was even more widely done than before. Now a QS meal only has entrée and drink, and the wording for subbing out the drink is gone. Most reports are that the exchange can still be done at the resorts, but not many places in the parks are letting you get 3 snacks for 1 QS credit.

I was at Disney last month and exchanged my quick services for snacks the majority of the time and it was a great use of credits. Granted, we are a family of three, so exchanging a credit for 3 specialty drinks that are 6.50 each might not work for everyone. But I found it super useful and was only denied once at the Satuli in Pandora.
There is actually a button on the cash register called the DDP Combo, which makes the exchange.
Our favorite spots to exchange were Sleepy Hollow (waffle, funnel cake, ice cream cookie sandwich) and all the ice cream places ( 3 sundaes)

Thanks all - I think we are going to pass on DDP. We have a $200 Disney gift card so I'm going to get a $300 F&W lanyard or passport and we will go from there.

yep where they do allow use of a CS credit at the booths, they won't split up the credit. You have to get 3 items from the same booth. Don't even know if it will go down to 2 items now that the dessert isn't part of the equation.
