Okay DIS Veterans - can you give me some suggestions for Epcot dining and where to sit during the Candlelight Procession? I understand that there is/was a special deal with Dinner and special procession seating but as things change....

We are trying to narrow it down to either Italian or German - the more authentic the crusine the better for us since we were in the military and did a lot of time in Europe.

Thanks ahead for all suggestions, recommendations and any advise in general!

Rae

the more authentic the crusine the better

Are you referring to the Magic's "crusine," the Wonder's "crusine" or Disney Crusine Line's cuisine? lol.

Sorry, Rae, but I couldn't resist. Nice to "see" you back after the surgery. I hope the anesthetic wears off soon!

All the best.

Now can you see why I am claiming that I was Disney's model for "Dopey"?!!
SHEESH!!!!

Anesthesia wore off - just trying to wean off the pain pills now - and probably not doing such a good job! Or could be lack of sleep!

Excuses! Excuses! Excuses!

Big smile here - thanks pal!

Hi Rae,

Last December, my dsis purchased the dinner package for the CP at Alfredo's for our party in honor of my dbil's 50th bday. It was great. We had a very nice italian dinner at Alfredo's and then got in line for the CP. I was surprised that we had to stand in line eventhough dsis had purchased the package. We waited about 20-30 minutes and then they allowed us into the theater. We were able to get wonderful seats and the show was fantastic. The narrator was Wayne Brady and I was very impressed. I love him on "Who's Line" but I was concerned that he would not keep the solemnity of the occaision. He was wonderful! The whole show was beautiful.

I would recommend Alfredo's but then again, I'm not into German food. I'm sure whatever you choose, you will not be disappointed.

Hi Rae!

We do the CP dinner package every year. :) Here is general information about it:

CP Info

As for your dinner choice, our personal favorites are Chefs de France and Teppenyaki, from the list of restaurants available. If you post your question on our Restaurant Board you'll get LOTS of responses and opinions on the various restaurants.

Glad you're feeling better! :)

Rae -without hesitation or doubt, Chefs de France (even tho it's not on your list). We went there almost 3 years ago when DD was 5 1/2 and we all loved it. We sat downstairs and had a great meal; it was just like being in Paris. Like you, I've lived abroad so sometimes Epcot gives me the willies bc of the "fakeness" (but I love it anyway!). But Chefs de France actually made me so nostalgic for Paris that I went home and booked us a trip for the following September!! :)

I was lucky enough to do some work in italy for a whole month and I can tell you that the food at alfredos cannot hold a candle to the food in the real country. I think if you are used to real italian food and not the americanized olive-garden type version than you will be disappointed. The food is not bad there, but it's not italy.

I can't tell you about germany because we haven't eaten there (nor have I been there!) I have yet to try chefs de france for the same reason, afraid fo disappointment compared to the "real thing" and it is very expensive (though I didn't spend all that much time in paris, so my idea of french food is not really fancy but the more simple things I ate in the small town in which I stayed). With the review below I might have to give it a try though!

Sorry that wasn't much help except in the negative!

Hi Rae

We've done Alfredo's and the buffet in Germany a couple of times. I'd say either on is great. I'm not much a European type food person myself, more accustomed to oriental food actually. So, I was pleasantly surprised by both of the, especially Germany. For some strange reason I never thought of German food as being that special, but it sure was at the buffet as far as I am concerned. We loved it!

Wow!
Lots of choices here~!
Thank you all for the information. I think I'll let DH make the decision on this one and see what happens.
That way if he gripes, at least "paulmc80" - our dining mate for the Disney Wonder part of the vacation will know I did my best!

Also, for "paulmc80" - our budding meteorologist says that Hawaii is "going to be the best place on Earth for the Taurid meteor shower this weekend". At age 7, he really doesn't know what he is asking for when he told me to ask you if he could spend the night at your place!!!!!

Thanks everyone!
Rae

Rae - Oh your DH won't complain at all no matter which place he chooses. LOL I forgot to mention the entertainment in Germany during the buffet was nice too.

Taund meteor shower? Doesn't look like good viewing, at least where I am, for a meteor shower here this weekend. Its really, really overcast and very heavy showers from time to time. But, might clear up, never can tell around here. Sure he could come over, just a really long drive. :-)

We had very heavy fog for night and day last November when we were do a very large one - but Michael keeps hoping. I'll tell him that you got fog and he won't feel so disappointed!

DH is of German descent, so he is opting there. Will share with you over dinner one evening!

Thanks for the weather update!

We did the CLP package last year and selected LeCeller. We reallly enjoyed the food and atomosphere here and it was just a short walk to the ampitheater where the Prcessional was held. We passed this long line of people on the way and commented that we were glad we had passes so we did not have to stand in line. When we got to the gate we were told that the line was for pass holders. We had to turn around and go to the end of the line which was just in front of Moroco. We still had great seats and Wayne Brady did a fabulous job of narration. After the show we moved out to the edge of the lake and watched the fireworks.
If you are a Santa Claus fan be sure and get a schedule for meeting the Santa from each of the countries. They come out and tell you about the Christmas traditions in their country and then there is a photo op.
Have fun and be ready to be put in the Christmas spirit. We are planning on doing it again for 2003.

Merry Christmas All,

I couldn;t resist putting in my 2 cents. We love the CP and do it with ressies each time. It really is a terrific deal since it does include soup to nuts.
If you like steaks I recommend LeCellier Steakhouse in Canada. The Filet Mignon melts in your mouth! We didn't realize there would be such a line for reserved seats either and luckily we decided to go right to the amphitheater after dinner. For the 6:45 show we had 4:00PM dinner ressies and it worked out great.
We saw Alfre Woodard, I think that is her name, and she was terrific. Saw Angela Basset a couple years ago and I wasn't impressed. She will be there when we are this year so we plan to wait for Yolanda Adams even though we don't know anything about her.
