This tangent started on another thread... so I thought it needed its own home.

So where exactly in Epcot do the dessert parties take place? I thought it was somewhere in the World Showcase area?? When we went to see Illuminations last September we stood by the France pavilion and the view for Illuminations was awful. We didn't even stay for the whole show because you couldn't even see half of what was going on.

The ones I know of are Upper and Lower UK, Upper and Lower French Island, Italy Isola, & Isola West Wing.

Thanks! Anyone have any suggestion as to which has the best viewing for Illuminations?

I really depends on your group size, because that determines your options. I think the lower areas of uk and France was best because you are right on the water. and the Italy Isola i hear is awesome either way.

I think it depends on the wind, myself. The Bridge between France and UK can be great except when the wind is blowing in that direction. I've been coated in ashes there before. Does anyone how the UK & France locations are when the wind blows that way? Oh... that's off-topic, isn't it? I'll start a new thread for you SRUAlmn.

So, the questions are:
  • What are the Dessert Party Locations?
  • What are the views like?
  • How is the location during different weather conditions?
  • How are the locations shielded from other guests? (Or are they?)

Thanks, sorry for getting off topic. No one had really been posting about the pictures lately, and since the dessert parties were mentioned I thought I could just ask there.

Oh no biggie. But I personally just think it helps to have specific questions where you can find them later. With me, I'll read something cool and then go, "What thread was that in? Where did I read that!?!" :rotfl: So I just figured it'd be easier to find this way.

there is the uk lower which is more private on the water great view. uk upper which is roped off ok view some trees. french arm which is roped off on the water good view. french upper island which is roped off good view. french lower island which is more private on the water great view. morocco terrace which is roped off for small groups near the boat dock. italy isola which is private on the water perfect view of the epcot ball & illuminations. italy west which is roped off for small groups to the left of the isola good view.

there is also the backup rain locations like space ship earth, ok view from distance partial obstruction, norway pavilion, american rotunda vip room, that i know of.

there are restrictions on the sites too. like how many guests are needed/can be accomodated for example italy isola requires 100 guests but can fit up to 300.

there are some good pictures posted on yourfairytale.com, disneyweddings.go.com and on some of our fellow dis brides wedding photos.

So if we're going to most likely have less than 50-60 people, which locations would we be permitted to use?
Thanks :)

We just got back and watched the Illuminations several times and ever night the wind went the same way towards the UK and that bridge, one night we even had bits falling on us!

That's what I was wondering. Has anyone been in one of the Dessert Party Locations when the wind was blowing that way? I wonder if it's as bad if you're lower and closer to the water.

I had my rehearsal get together at Epcot instead of taking everyone to dinner!! We had the lower UK. It is actually the spot where Micheal Eisner takes his family!! It was awesome!!! We had an open bar and it was roped off! Everyone loved it!!!

OMG! :earseek: Were you guys okay??

We've seen Illuminations from the Lower Uk, the Lower French, under the bridge on a boat and from the top of the bridge. We've never had things fall on us (thank God!) but that last time that we did see Illuminations, we were watching from the Lower French Island and we noticed that after the show the Lower UK was coverd in smoke. Ummmm . . . I have pics. I'll have to post them. I e-mailed Jonetta some pictures of the dessert reception locations. . . maybe she'll have that picture location thread up soon. I'll post some pictures in a few.

Upper French Island Location- the last picture (of the upper French) I found online and thought it would give you a good feel for the upper location.

There are pros and cons to all sites. Unfortunately, since we are only having about 30 people, I did not get any pictures of the Italy spots since my EM told me that those had a min. 100 guest. Hope all this helps. If not, enjoy the pics! :teeth:

Yeah everyone was ok, luckily it was only paper and soot mostly, did ruin my favorite pink skirt tho! oh well. That was at the Lower Uk dessert party location and we had friends watching from the French one and they said although no debris came their way the smoke was so bad that they could hardly see the globe. Shame as thats where im having my dessert party in next december, hope the wind doesnt blow that way.

Lower UK or Lower French? We are having ours in the Lower French in exactly 12 days. And we are praying for good weather and no soot or smoke.

We watched it from Lower UK and our friends watched it from Lower French. On the Lower UK we had the debris landing on us, and the Lower French just had smoke blowing towards them ( well towards the bridge really) but that was only one night and ive been loads of times in September and always watched it from the same place and never had that before so im sure yours will be fine!!

When we had ours on the lower UK there was no smoke or debris. It depends on the weather and wind. Every location can have faults depending on the direction of the wind. We had about 40 people for there.

What month was your wedding though? The wedding planner told me generally the smoke etc goes different ways in certain months each year.
