What would my best Epcot resort choice be if my room must be standard view? It will be me, DH, & 2 DD's (3 & 5)....

I think a standard room is a standard room no matter what resort you pick. I would pick YC,it is a gorgeous resort and they have a great pool, your daughters will love it.:)

That is a tough one. It will take someone with really good knowledge of those resorts. Standard view rooms usually overlook the front of the resort toward the parking areas. The higher the floor the better the view of the parkinglot. But you often get views of gardens mixed inwith the lots. At the Yacht cloub there are standars rooms that look out on some lawn and bushges and a canal with the parkinglot beyond. There are also some that look out at the Porte Cocher(s) and the convention center so you may have a view of a roof with some parking beyond.
At the Boardwalk Inn and Villas the standard rooms look out at the busy enterence and valet parking with parkinglots and trees beyond. Don't know it there are any rooms tucked down behind the convention center roof.
The Beach club may be your best bet. The rooms look across the lawn and canal to parking and some over to the new beach club villas. I think there are only a few that over look front entrance.

I would pick YC or BC. You can't beat Stormalong Bay and you can't use it at the other Epcot Resorts. I've had a standard room at BC and it was actually a semi-water view - it looked out over a courtyard but I could also see Crescent Lake. Just make a request to not overlook the parking area. I'll bet you'll get your wish. These resorts are beautiful and the Epcot Resort area can't be beat.

For our next trip we will be trying a standard room at BWI. I have read many posts that say you can request an upper level floor with an Epcot view and see the tops of the WS blds. and a little of the fireworks... sounds nicer than a parking lot view but I'm sure most of the standard views are not great anywhere.

When are you going? I'd go with the Beach Club or Yacht Club. If you choose either one of those, just check in to see when the rennovations will be starting.

Our family has stayed at both resorts and love the area. We always go back to the YC since then we are guaranteed a balcony. A big deal for DH & I with the kids. (3 & 7 now) It gives us a place to hang out when they are asleep. I am usually the first one up and I love sitting outside watching the world go by. :)

Your children will love Stormalong Bay. Altho they are too young to go on the big slide, there is a smaller slide on the other side of the pool. They will also like the sandy bottom and being able to play in the sand on the "beach".

You really can't loose with either one. Just as a tip, one time when we went to the YC when we were checking in I asked for a room close to the front of the resort. One time we were there we got a room waaaaaaaaaay over near the Dolphin and it was a hike to get to anywhere. Well, the CM (Fernando) was real nice and upgraded us to concierge - no charge! (We orignally had a standard room)

Of course that spoiled us and that's the only way DH will go now.

Have fun no matter what you choose!

Jill

next trip - November 2002!

I am one of the ones who got the view vicb is refering to. We had a standard room booked at the BWI and were pleasantly surprised with how nice our view was. We did request non smoking, full balcony, day bed and a view of Epcot.(got all of these requests) We were able to also hear the music from ToD and Illuminations as well as see the fireworks, the Eifel tower, and the top of Spaceship Earth with Mickey's hand. We had a wonderful time at BWI and the room was in great condition and we also had a really good view of a pretty courtyard where the garden suites are located. As you can already guess I think you should try the BWI!;)

Desnik,

How did you make your requests? On the original reservation or later?

We will be at the YC Aug 30th (1st time), and also have a standard view.

Thanks
Denise
