Epcot Ctr A Mall With A Cover Charge

I have been going to WDW since 1982. I can safely say that I have been to the world at least thirty times in my life.

Last week when I was at Epcot a man came up to a vender selling coffee, colladas, and pasteries. He asked the girl behind the counter if the spots for food and restaurants were for rent.

Her response was YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't believe my disney ears. All those restaurants we love so much are just a bunch of venders like at your local mall!!!!

THUS THE TITLE EPCOT CENTER A MALL WITH A COVER CHARGE!!!!!

So what is the problem? It is fairly well known that a lot of the kiosks are run by vendors. Thah hardly compares EPCOT to a mall!

Disney is in the ENTERTAINMENT industry, not the coffee and snowcone, belgian waffle industry.

If there weren't vendors there selling snacks and food items, paople wouldn't hang around at the parks very long as they would leave as soon as they got hungry.

What difference does it make whether the vendors are third party contractors, or direct Disney CM's? : As long as the food and service are consistent, I can't see why this would matter.

Given all the gift shops, some people would look at the parks as malls with a cover charge, even if everything was run by Disney. Others are able to see the parts that clearly put it into another category.

To anybody that sees it like a mall I would ask this... do they realize many of the newer rides were not totally made by Disney? Many parts of the new Everest ride were made by a leading coaster maker that makes coasters for all theme parks.
