On a different board its been reported that the construction at Epcot near club cool is more than just taking down the butterfly garden. It was originally planned to just be that as flower and garden festival is over.

Supposedly a Construction crew taking down the garden hit a water line and flooded the area. We are talking a lot of water too. The area almost became a sink hole because of this. That is why the entire area is closed including surrounding pathways.

They are now under an emergency rebuilding project for the area.

any update on this situation in Epcot? Are they still repairing? Has anyone ever pointed pictures. I saw the link from the pp but it seemed to be just a bunch of people making jokes about a new water ride

Here is what I saw:

holy frijole that is huge!!!! is there any word about when this is going to be done? I hope those pictures aren't from today. Is Disney being tight lipped about this, or have they said when they expect to be done with this?

It was only a matter of time before some sort of sinkhole developed in a tourist area...
Even if it was man assisted...

Central Florida is littered with them. There must have been some inherent ground instability there before.

Epcot Center has had a sink hole problem before. Notice on the other side in front of the Odyssey how the water in front of it is shaped weird. That is a sinkhole where they had to place raised bridges and other things as well as stabilize the ground to keep the Odyssey from going under.

Disney has said nothing about this and I don't see them saying anything about it. It was a major problem that happened unexpectedly that led to a immediate construction project. I would expect it done within the next couple months. They are replacing the water main in that area.

Hope they get this fixed soon. Between this disaster at Epcot, the renovations and expansion of the Hub at MK, AvatarLand at DAK, the new DVC Villas at the Polly, and everything happening at Downtown Disney/DS... the resort is a magical mess right now!

Agreed. We didn't renew our annual passes this year because of all the construction. Made 5 trips last year, but not worth it to fly out there from Arizona with all the construction. We figure that we will wait a couple years before our next trip.
