EPCOT closing at 3 on Oct 9 - why???

Anyone know why all of EPCOT is closing on Oct 9 at 3 o'clock????

This is the day we arrive. Had no problem getting a room at YC though.

Thoughts????

Probably a private event.This happened on one of our trips a couple of years ago.Epcot closed at 4 pm for a private affair that some large corporation had.

I believe it's a scheduled press event for the Mission:Space grand opening. There's also supposed to be one on the 8th in the Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Philharmagic.

Was kind of hoping that the other parks would of had substantial hour increases to offset the early closure but as of now, MK is staying open only till 8:30. AK closing still at 5. MGM closing at 7:30.

I hope that the hours are extended or it will be horrible in the parks.

More than likely, Epcot will close early on October 25th as well. That is the night of the Indy Racing League Championship awards banquet, which is being held at World ShowPlace.

This is just a guess however. Someone want to see if they can verify this either way?
