EPCOT - Clockwise or counter clockwise?

I saw a lot of comments on the directions we should go in EPCOT. I'm confused, because some indicate to go clockwise while others indicate to go counter clockwise.

Does it really make a difference which direction you go? And if so, can anybody tell me clockwise or counter clockwise??

And does this apply to other parks??

Seriously, I don't think it matters. What matters are where the big attractions are. In Future World, that's Test Track which is to the left side from the main entrance. In World Showcase, it is easy to just start on one side and work around. But which way would depend on PS for lunch or dinner, where you want to end up for Illuminations, etc. This trip I'm going to try to start with Test Track, Spaceshipt Earth, then up the left side of WS because we have PS for the princess breakfast in Norway, and we want to end at the International Gateway.

However you do it, it is a VERY large park. Be prepared for lots of walking, and enjoy!

We like to go up the left hand side of Epcot (as you enter through the main gate).. go through the pavilions on the left side (no political statement here hehehe) then cross over to the right and go around the world counter clockwise. This is especially handy during the EF&WF. Start with some ice wine in canada... well we skip CA since thats home... and go on from there.

I don't think it matters in the least which way you go, but somehow we always manage to go counter clockwise. Maybe it's because we can't wait for that glass of champagne in France.:smooth:

It depends what I am hungry for first - Rice Kreme from Norway or a pastry from France.

My family and I usually start going counter-clockwise (Canada) if go as soon as the World Showcase opens. We like to stop at the Boulangerie Patisserie for a cup of coffee and any type of unhealthy snack they have.

But, if thats not plan it really does'nt matter. If you want to hit Norway's Maelstrom or Mexico's El Rio Del Tiempo first start going clock-wise.

it obviously doesn't matter, but go to test track first and get a fast pass; they ran out by early afternoon.

Hi Gripette,

I do research for Bob Sehlinger and the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, primarily on the touring plans for each park.

For World Showcase, the answer depends on the time at which you start the tour. If you arrive at World Showcase between 11 a.m. and about 1:30 p.m., you'll wait in line less by doing a clockwise rotation (i.e., starting with Mexico). After about 2 p.m., you'll probably wait less if you do a counter-clockwise rotation (i.e., starting with Canada). The primary reason for this is the wait time at Maelstrom in Norway. Just my opinion, but I don't think the backtracking necessary to use FASTPASS is worth it for Maelstrom. Too much extra walking.

As jlaspoq noted, Epcot is a big, big park, so be prepared. You may be better off dividing a tour of Epcot into one and a half or two days, if possible.

Since we were having dinner at Rose & Crown and arrived at the International Gateway about 3pm last Wednesday we did the following

We turned left after entering the international gateway and wandered through UK and then wandered through Canada and did Oh Canada! then went across the front of the lagoon and continued with Mexico in a loop back around to UK and went over and watched Off Kilter in Canada.

We actually skipped Maelstrom because of the wait. We did get to American Adventure. While we were waiting on our table for Rose & Crown we were able to catch British Invasion.

Also because of the timing of our loop around, we arrived at the drawbridge while it was up and watched them push the Illuminations barges through. That was kind of cool.

We always went clockwise (to the left, entering the World Showcase) until this last trip. We were anxious to get to Canada to try a beavertail, so we went right. It just felt WRONG. LOL

It's counter clock-wise for us. You can do Test Track in the morning, and make your way around WS in time for lunch at Alfredo's.
