Trying to book a rental for Thanksgiving I usually book with Alamo but the rates are going higher and higher. Scared that things will start to sell out I need to book something. Who has dealt with Enterprise? Like I stated I am a Alamo person so I am used to going straight to the vehicle and dealing with minimal paperwork at the gate. Does Enterprise offer bypass the counter now that everybody(National Enterprise and Alamo) are under the same umbrella or do I have to check in at the counter?

They have kiosks or counter. After visiting the kiosk or counter you head to the garage and someone will walk with you while you select a car, note damages, etc. Not as quick as Alamo or national, but, a bit more personalized. National and Alamo's computers do not "talk" to Enterprises and the procedure is different.

Thanks gmeh1! I knew you would answer!! Hopefully I can find a good rate and stick with what I know best - Alamo!!

In my personal experience, I love Enterprise. They may not be as quick, but we have always gotten quality service from them. I would recommend them to anybody. :)

I feel the same about Alamo, but my gosh their rates are crazy for mid November. Since it's almost 8 weeks out, I keep hoping rates will drop, but no luck. Still over $450.00 for a compact for 8 days. We did get a good rate with Budget, so that's where we are.

I love them too, they sign my paycheck. :) Seriously, I am looking at a line at the garage booth for Enterprise. They are waiting for their escorts. Looks like about 5 families.

With rental cars, it doesn't make sense to wait for prices to drop, because there's generally no penalty for cancellation. You can make the reservation and then keep checking prices. If they go up, you're already locked in; if they go down, just make another reservation and cancel the old one.

We tried to rent a car through Enterprise recently and they wanted driver's license, utility bill with your name on it, proof of income. Is the norm? We were paying with a debit card, is that why? Never heard of such a thing before? We are planning on stay next at AllStars Vacation Homes at Windsor Hills and they are offering a free car rental with the house and they are using Enterprise, its the only reason we tried Enterprise because we have also always used National. Anyone else had this problem. Who walks around with a utility bill and proof of income?:confused3

Two other Enterprise questions - I know we get the extra driver for free since I am a spouse, but I'll already be at WDW when DH arrives and picks up the car at MCO. Will we have to go back to MCO to give them my license as well so I can also drive it?

We also used an upgrade code from Costco -will DH get paperwork at the counter showing and intermediate to standard size (do they even have a standard size aisle?) Sorry, used to Alamo and National where we just walk out and grab a car.

They will want to see your license and debit card at the airport. Did you rent at a branch local to your home? If so, that may be the reason for the extra "proofs". Enterprise now owns National and Alamo.

You will be able to go to any Enterprise office to add you to the rental agreement. He will get the paperwork showing the upgrade. I am not sure if they actually have a standard section at Enterprise. Just make sure the rental is in the name of the person picking it up. You would be amazed at how many people make reservations for their spouse in their own name and are not present when it comes time to pick up the car. It can be fixed, but, it adds time onto the process and for some, that is not acceptable.

That's exactly what happened, it was a local branch. Good to know all these things. Thanks for the added info! Love these threads!:thumbsup2

Thanks for this. It is in his name since he will be picking it. Guessing it doesn't matter if we are both Enterprise+ members. Thank you again for all your help!

We rented our car last trip from Enterprise. The good news is that we ended up with a SUV for about the same price as we would have paid for a full-size car from Avis. The bad news is that I had the feeling when we were being shown the cars that the fellow was trying to pull a "bait and switch" deal on us. The price we had for a full size car was half that at Avis, but the fellow showing us around wouldn't even take us to the full size car we had reserved, saying we had too many bags (but we had rented a full size car about 6 weeks previously and had no trouble at all fitting our bags in the car). There were three of us, and we each had one carry on and one checked bag. If the cost for the SUV had been more than the cost of the full size at Avis, I would have protested more strongly. That said, I will probably not rent from Enterprise again. I don't like the strong arm haggling when I just want to get my car and be on my way.

That is called an upsell, it happens with every single car agency. It is not a bait and switch (a bait and switch would be if you rented a certain class of car and they told you it was no longer available and tried to rent you the next size up for more money). All you had to say was you were not interested and you wanted what you had rented. Learn to "just say NO". :)

Just checking, as we haven't rented from Enterprise before - we can check in at the kiosk with our computer print out and DH's license - do I add myself then as the spouse / additional driver? Or will we HAVE to go to the counter? Is there any kind of online checkin we can do to save time?

Then after we check in at the kiosk we can go out to the garage, and someone will escort us to the premium aisle to choose our car? That's cool, hope there isn't a line - then again, that helps us avoid the mad dash and subsequent licking of the door handle of the car we choose (JUST KIDDING - saw that on a car dealer ad once).

Sorry to re - hash it, but we're headed down VERY soon and I need to process it in my brain first - that's how I roll. :rotfl: Thanks !
