From what I've heard, if it was the same flight, you were in the air 7 minutes prior to Joyce making the announcement. Good timing!

hey
to all you that are flying in the next week..here's loads of happy thoughts sent your way.
hopefully its sorted tonight and we can all get on with our trips:cheer2:

:grouphug:

Great news for those travelling in the next few weeks :cool1: . Lets hope they get it sorted out in that time and no more stikes and grounding planes.

Well I had to roll the Dice on this one and the tickets and this time I have lost $1500. But I was in a really bad spot were the only flight that was cheap enough was a V flight, that was filing up fast and what if this morning they were saying "hey we are not sure when qantas will be flying again", and the V flights were full. Well you all know how that would feel to have been told your Disney holiday was going to be thrown into disarray.

Yer I lost the money but at least I had the guts to have a "Plan B" and you know what, I would do it again.

The one thing is that this has overshadowed the build up to the holiday. This should of been a weekend of watching disney videos and really getting excited to be going in a couple of days. But it was of stress and angst.

We need to get past it now and look forward to Wednesday now and think about how much we have looked forward to our 3 weeks in the USA.

Tara

I would have done the same thing. You put yourself in control during a time where you felt powerless. you were also making sure that your children were not going to face the disappointment of no holiday with

So the cost becomes a part of the holiday, which is one big wonderful thing do not keep thinking of it as a stand alone expense.

Have a wonderful time and enjoy your much anticipated holiday:wizard:

great news - just off the Qantas website:

Following the termination of all industrial action by Fair Work Australia, Qantas will resume scheduled services from mid-afternoon on Monday 31 October. This is subject to approval from the regulator.

More information will be available on qantas.com shortly.

For the latest flight information as it becomes available visit our Flight Status page.

We understand the significant impact the union action has had on our customers and apologise for the inconvenience it has caused. We thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Customers who had their flights cancelled due to industrial activity are eligible for a full refund as per our Fare Waiver. Please use the expense form which you can find on Accommodation and Incidental Expenses to claim for accommodation, meals and transfer expenses incurred as a result of the disruption.

If you are claiming a refund for your flight, or a reimbursement of a fare difference on another carrier, please visit Changing or Refunding your Booking or call our Contact Centre on 13 13 13 for assistance in Australia, for calls outside Australia contact your local Qantas office or your travel agent. Tara, I totally think you did the right thing and I agree with AreweinDisneyet about just thinking of it as part of the cost of the holiday and wow, how much fun you are going to have.

How about sharing your itinerary with us so we can get excited for you? Or tell us the 5 things you are most looking forward to on the trip? Let's keep our eye on the wonderful thing about this week and forget the rest. You are going to have an awesome time.

You did the right thing Tara. I would have done the same. Put it behind you and have a fantastic holiday! Your going to Disney:dance3:

You really had no Choice Tara. It was your only option. I heard that you could get a full refund if you had a flight on or before the 2nd of November. Have you cancelled V yet? Maybe there is still a way you could get your Qantas money back. I'm so sorry that this happened so close to your trip. It sucks. I hope you get some excitement back soon. Once you walk through those gates it will be all better.

Our flight is on the 4th so No Refund from qantas. I still have the Virgin tickets and was waiting to see if Qantas offered a refund cause of backlog or something. Will refund the V tickets at the 11th hr prob.

Over it now and yer once we get to LA we will be buzzing. Hey we are already cause we leave in like 2 more sleeps.

Tara2004 - It becomes part of the cost of the holiday. You did the right thing. Imagine how it would have felt if the cards rolled the other way!

Have a great holiday! :goodvibes
