Hi, Can anybody help me please.... I have booked my wedding for 2nd Jan 2009 and now it is all finally sinking in and I am soooo excited. I live in the uk and I am trying to guess/decide all my options. I think I need to make a trip to disney world to look at all the different options and I wondered whether anybody has booked everything fom the uk. I had and still have loads of questions and by reading all the info on this site has helped me out so much..Thank you.
My first questions is that last time we went to disneyworld was over 6 years ago and we saw a barber shop quartet on main street at magic kingdom... I would really love this as an entertainment option but cannot see it listed. Does anybody know whether this would be available?
Also, we are getting married at the yacht club gazebo... What restaurants are nearby that offer great food in a lovely setting.. for 20 people..
Thank you:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Lincolnbride,uk, welcome to the Dis. And congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

If you can swing a trip to the States for a planning session (assuming that you're a Wishes or Couture bride), then by all means do so. But if you can't, rest assured that you'll be able to handle everything via e-mail, telephone, FAX, and courier service. The FTW folks have been helping make couples' dreams come true for quite a few years now. I bet the vast majority of their weddings / vow renewals are planned via long distance.

As to the Dapper Dans, all that I can say is that you should ask the FTW folks if an appearance at your event is possible. If it isn't, perhaps they know of other barbershop quartets that are for hire in the Orlando area. You never know what their answer will be until you ask, so please never be afraid to speak up.

As to restaurants that can accommodate 20 people, there are quite a few. For the Beach Club, there is Cape May -- they have a character breakfast and a clam bake dinner buffet. For the Yacht Club, there is the Captain's Grille for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For a more refined dinner, there is always the Yachtsman Steakhouse. At the BoardWalk, there is the Big River Grille & Brewing Works for lunch & dinner. Or Spoodles for breakfast & dinner. The Swan & Dolphin also have a few restaurants between them. To see menus for these restaurants and others, please go over to the Allears website: click here.

If you're a Wishes bride and you want to plan something more private, there are banquet rooms and ballrooms at the Yacht Club and BoardWalk resorts (as well as other resorts). Just ask the FTW folks what is available for your time-frame and budget.

Have fun planning. And, again, welcome to the Dis!

Hey Lincolnbride, welcome and congratulations!

We are having an Escape wedding and planning everything from the UK - ok admittedly there isn't as much to plan and choose but it is really easy.

The Yachtsmans is a lovely venue for a meal and great food too. We were going to have our dinner here originally but we are leaning to Le Cellier so we can go into Epcot and have some fun first,, and we want to make sure we have plenty of time for illuminations.

Congratulations,

I'm a wishes bride and we are planning everything from the UK. We would have loved a planning secession but what with work commitments and saving for the wedding it wasn't possible. Everything has been really easy so far, I have done quite a lot of research so I really knew what I wanted before our planner was assigned. These boards are a massive help.

Hello from a fellow british bride.

I have done all of my planning from the UK as we couldn't afford a planning session. I did feel like I was missing out though after reading everyone elses planning session reports. I would love to taste the food and see the venues before my big day but then again it's a bit of a surprise for me on the day. I'm definitely going to visit Francs when I go over.

The majority of the planning for myself has been via email and phone and I have found that it's cheaper to send faxes then send things via courier from the UK.

Before I found the disboards I was feeling really lost but everyone on here is sooooo friendly and all the planning journals are packed with hints and tips. It's very addictive and you find yourself on here for hours on end. But it's a godsend.

Good luck with all of your planning..

HTH

Wow, thanks for all the info and links to help me... I thought I was the only one not going over there to discuss things and what I didnt want was to get there and see something that I would have preferred.... I would rather wait and spend that extra money for our wedding plans.....
I have thought about le cellier but can you go in your wedding dress and also we really wanted a dessert party as well for the evening.
I am getting married at 2.30 yacht club gazebo and then ???????????? for a meal and then we really wanted a dessert party at epcot but I want to wear my dress all day and I dont know whether you can... I think I read somewhere that you can and then I read that you couldnt... Confused....
Any suggestions.... I want our meal to be very nice but not too posh like Victoria and Alberts as I dont think my kids 2 and 5 will sit through that!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Is that what the Barber shop quartet are called.... How do you know all this info ???? Do you think I could have them before the fireworks. We are also thinking of having mickey and minnie at the cake cutting... where will this be if we get married at the Yacht Club Gazebo.... ?
Do you think this is overload?
Also, did any of you book through a travel agent or did you go direct to disney:
God I know absolutely nothing which is frightening.... Thank you for all your help:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Hi! Unfortunately they won't let you wear your dress in the parks, like to dine at Le Cellier. The only way to wear it in the parks is to have a dessert party, and they will escort you in.

I have seen many weddings at the Yacht Club Gazebo with Mickey and Minnie, and they looked lovely! They usually pose for pics on the lawn surrounding the gazebo.

We'll have to see what the British brides on the board say, but from what I've read, you have much more control if you book your wedding through Disney. If you use a travel agent, they act as a middleman between you and Disney and you have to wait for answers to all your questions. Plus, they package the weddings, which makes it harder to change things like the cake style.

Hi, i'm a uk bride too & we are gonna plan our wedding through disney which will be easier.
We would like to get married at 2.30pm at the yacht club gazebo aswell (how weird is that).
We would like to get married on the 5th may 2010.
We want 50 guests max (no more than 50) & we want the harp and a dj.

I love the pic of mickey n minnie, i didnt know you could have them at the ceremony (cool).

Thanks for those pictures, I have never seen them before and it gives me more of an idea....
Still getting used to this website and not sure how to reply to each person... I shall get there in the end
