Entertainment in the Golden Horseshoe

I seem to remember that there used to be live entertainment in the Golden Horseshoe, but I've been told that they no longer do this. Any idea of what happened/if there is any entertainment there?

Also, we were discussing reading something on there being live mermaids in the cove and mountain climbers on Matterhorn- is this just urban legend or did they really do this? (And if they did any idea of why they stopped?)

There is still live entertainment in the Golden Horseshoe several times a day. The popular Billy Hill and the Hillbillies are no longer there though (they are now at Knotts Berry Farm). There is a singing comedy group that does several performances per day.

I think the swimming mermaids were short-lived and very long ago, like during the early days of the park being open. I feel like there is a reference to them in the Steve Martin 50th anniversary movie that they still run in the lobby of the Abe Lincoln show, and I don't think it was a joke.

The Matterhorn climbers have been around for a while. They actually discontinued that for several years, but the climbers returned to the Matterhorn last summer, or was it the summer before? I think it was last summer. I noticed them up there a few times when we visited last summer. Not sure if they are still current.

Just wanted to say that we were there just this past Sunday (June 1) and we caught the last 5 minutes of one performance and we stayed for the next. (Of course, while all enjoyed our sundaes!)

They were different "skits" and they were cute - with some jokes that made you groan, but others that truly made me laugh out loud.

They both drew participation from the audience, so if you are shy, don't sit close to the stage!
