Todays parade was cancelled not long before it started and no characters will be at Café Mickey today as the Entertainment division - characters and parades stopped work

Apparently it's in solidarity with a cm from their team

Dreams is uneffected and will go ahead

All these strikes ruining peoples holidays are getting on my nerves now.

Any idea what the strike was in aid of this time?

This was a unexpected one - they are protesting concerning the treatment of a colleague, so rumour has it, no further info atm

It might affect the Meet Mickey tomorrow no one knows as yet.....

hopefully it will get sorted out quickly so it doesn't spoil too many peoples holidays.

I know its not over payment as the dispute of pay for the 20th anniversary has been resolved, according to the financial figures.

I will say something about the French, they stand up for what they believe instead of being walked over:thumbsup2

just speculating here, after the mention of safety in the magic forum page, i wonder if it has anything to do with the cm who is mr smee in the parade who fainted the other day during the parade?

(sorry cant remember who's highs and lows mentioned it, they came back this week and also shared a cart on btm with Paris hilton.)

Cherry Marzipan is the person you are thinking about ;)

Could be but it's not the first time they've had someone faint on the parade so I don't know :confused3

Today the weather has been so awful - rain, high winds even hail at one point, that I don't know if there would have been a lot of people hanging about for the parade or not

Well, it it's about safety, I have to say the I was very worried for Mickey when we watched it last week. He does not look steady up there, and one small jerk and I reckon he'd have been gone. :confused3

I saw that picture, the thing they do with parade floats generally is have straps on their feet, and sometimes even a kind of "pole" up their back which is covered (usually by the costume) so they are very steady :)

Yes, I'm sure they are, but I still worry about accidents happening. If it was me I know I'd like something to hold on to :)

According to Radio Disney it would be to do with this

http://radiodisneyclub.fr/greve-au-departement-personnage-disneyland-paris/

Contrary to recent strikes denouncing low wages and very heavy work schedules, the strike today was for a different purpose: Cast Members showed their support for one of their colleague who suffers from sexual harassment from an employee of the same division. In solidarity, the characters are not all out.

There is a article about it on French tv - at around 12mins10

I hope DLP are taking appropriate action such as suspension under investigation of the person who is responsible for the sexual harassment.

According to the news piece the girl had been targetted for 3 years by her aggresseur and she eventually reported it. Her aggresseur was sanctionned but has come back to work in his old position.

She has been moved to another division and isn't happy with this nor the fact that he is still there and she doesn't feel safe

What she and her colleagues that are supporting her wants is that DLP fires this man and that she should be allowed to work with her team as before.

I imagine they will be taking further action against him if the strikes etc continue. It probably already being planned behind the scenes just like the extra money action. The only time I found out was in the financial newsletter to shareholders that the payments had been made.

It's terrible though that it has to come to this. They have major pbs over there with they way they handle situations :rolleyes2

I agree but to be honest many UK companies behave in the same way. There is always some hidden law that comes to light when situations like this crop up.

with sexual harrassment its very hard..... been there done it lol mine agressor was sent (voluntarily) overseas, but then he returned and the big boss gave him his old job back!!!
luckily my immediate boss fought to get him transfered but i never did feel 'safe'.... in the end i got made redundant lol

i do hope they can get sumthin sorted and this cm dismissed from his post - whats not to say that he might harrass the public??

either way, just hope it is sorted soon - espec before holidays and all those ppl....

and i expect they will have to refund ppl for their dining plans, as alot of ppl take out the half board & full board plans - and this will have a big impact on it!

Do people strike though much in the UK in the private sector ? I've never done any paid work in the UK only voluntary so I've really no idea how companies work :confused3

Not so much, more the public sector & that is only increased recently. However because of this companies think they can walk all over staff. I'm a public sector working whilst i'm grateful to have a job, the way we are treated is appalling. If only the public knew! many are shocked we do 12 hours shifts & are entitled to a 30 min unpaid break, sometime we can go all shift without having one. They have also changes our pay & are refusing to sit down with the unions to come up with a fairer way to do this.

That's one of the things I admire from the French they stand up if they believe in something, its more difficult to do so in the Uk as you have to give notice of plans to strike.

I don't always agree with striking, i'm in a job which could have a severe impact on the public if we did ( I work for the ambulance service). We tend to work to rule if something occurs.
