Entertainment book worth it for hotels?

I'm thinking of getting the Entertainment book primarily for the hotel discounts (50% off rack rates, 10% off promo rates for most of the DTD hotels). It sure seems like a "no brainer"...like it's too good to be true. Has anybody used the card for the DTD Marriott Courtyard or the Hotel Royal Plaza? Do you use the card when you check in, or when you make your ressie? What about if you book the hotel through Expedia, Travelocity, Hotel Kingdom, etc...do you still get a discount?

We're going January 18, and it seems like all the good rate "deals" are ending on Jan. 2 or 3.

Help please, before I fork over $35.

You book direct with the hotel. It gives you the best discounts for the Universal hotels. The discount is available if the hotel anticipates being less than 80% occupancy. You only need the card when you check in (sometimes not even then but I wouldn't take the chance)so you can wait and get the book if you need it. You can probably get your money back on your local restaurants, fast food coupons etc.

I think that the entertainment passbook is very worth it. It does offer great discounts. Of course you should still call around, so hotels will give you a great manager's special also.
