Entertainment Book - Universal Meal/Deal Coupon

There is still free parking after 6:00 PM but they used to reimburse you for parking during the day if you went to a movie before 6:00 PM.

It used to be a full parking reimbursement inside cineplex theater.

I don't know about the movie meal coupons except from what I was told when I talked to Citywalk guest services. I am only answering the statement you made about the free parking. The free parking ended in January when AMC bought the movie theater.

I honestly don't know what has happened with the coupons or if it has anything to do with AMC but I sincerely hope that things are worked out.

Everything is connected. I payed universal for parking not cineplex. When amc came and bought the theater the agreement between universal to charge for parking and for cineplex to return the parking was broken because AMC came into the the new circle of agreements. Looks like AMC is a solo/one only company. Too bad they still have to share parking with universal and citywalk, and no matter what amc new rules are they are still under universal management/land and this is when people see the "yes, I take this", and then people will see again,"No, I will not take this," etc.

Anyway got to go, I`m tired.... goodnight and good luck to all of us with our new neighbor (Amc) at Universal Studios Florida....

goldcupmom, I went to entertainmentbook.com and then to the help link. Under that there is a link of questions, one of them says merchant will not honor discount, this links you to an email.

The number for the entertainment book is also on one of the last pages of the book.

I have emailed and spoke with someone at entertainment. they have filed a complaint on my behalf. Their rep has to make an appointment with universal and speak to them.

I also have spoken with Connie the manager at citywalk and also tammy gustason who is director of sales and planning. They both claim that it is a misprint and they will only give you 20% off. They both also stated that it was mutually decided between universal and entertainment not to honor the coupons anymore. I had a pretty long conversation last night with Tammy and basically told her that many of us were very upset and that they were more than likely going to lose business because of this. She claims they were losing too much money (however they are mailing out one day passes to many people to try and get people into the park). So in effect, not honoring the coupon people will most likely go the pleasure island theatre were you don't have to pay for parking if you go before 6 p.m. They most likely will lose additional revenue from people not frequenting citywalk restaurants and getting their "free meal" which would actually cost a lot because people buy appetizers and drinks. And from my experience people tend to spend more when they think they are getting a "free meal".

If you want tammy phone number it is 407-224-7859.

Thanks for another contact @ Universal. I think the more they hear from us the better.

I find it funny that when I spoke to entertainment.com they said it wasn't their fault and there is no misprint. But when you get to Universal they have a whole different story. I can't wait to see how this comes out.

It sound to me like this year they are making a lot of people vey upset over many things. First, no free parking, then no free express pass and now the icing on the cake is the coupon. I think I agree with the poster yesterday who said "If you want me to go to Disney just say so". I think it's funny that attendence was down last year and now they can't think of any better way to get us back other than pi$$ing us off. Way to go!!!!!
    :( :headache: :furious: :furious:

There shouldn't be a problem if every coupon printed is redeemed. When they decided to issue the coupon (in my opinion it wasn't a misprint) they should have prepared for them all to be redeemed and if they weren't redeemed then who-ha for them. Universal was thinking ok we issue 100 coupons maybe 1/2 will get redeemed but, it's great advertisement. They weren’t prepared for all 100 coupons to be redeemed and now they want to back out the deal. Another thing is you wouldn't know they changed the deal until you are already there. Which means 9 chances out 10 you will stay and eat. If they keep having POOR customer service they will loose a lot of customers. First, they make you pay for Fast Passes. There hotel prices during the summer are outrageous. Now this...

I just wrote Entertainment. I actually own 5 books - all with proper cards - and intended to use 4 of these coupons.

I called the online ticket sales and got a refund of my tickets as I will not be visiting Universal this trip. I do love the park but I am pretty unhappy about their customer service. The rep I talked to wasn't aware of the situation but called over to Citywalk and verified it. He agreed that it was real poor customer service. Additionally, the free dining thing at Disney just seals the deal. Even with all the promo stuff, it's just not worth it.

I too just cancelled by 4 nite stay at Universal. It's not only the garbage about the meal & movie, but Universal's Customer Service is treating their guests. I personally believe that they should allow either one per party or at least one coupon per showing of the Entertainment Card. Let's see, losing 1-2 dinners vs. 4 nights hotel, parking, breakfast, lunch and snacks, gifts, etc. Seems to me, Universal is losing alot more for not honoring a coupon for which they were for 4-5 months prior.

Well, I'm as upset as everyone else but I don't think I'd cancel my whole trip over it. But I will shorten my stay by 2-nights because the only reason we were going to stay there on our arrival day was to eat dinner and see a movie with our coupons and I was going to stay an extra night for relaxation, but now we will only stay long enough to use 2 days on our tickets and FOTL and we will move on elsewhere.

I've emailed Entertainment book and I'm waiting to see what they say. I have 3 books & 3 cards and I have 5 coupons (got 2 from family members). I'm hoping they change that people with cards will be able to use the coupons. But only time will tell if they are sticking with the 20% off decision.

I plan on calling Tammy & Connie just so they can hear more complaints. I do agree some people were getting a little carried away with all the coupons. But I'd be happy if they honor the coupons for people who have cards.

We enjoy going to Universal but this is definately a bad customer service move.

I did email universal and entertainment book. I got a response from entertainment book that they were investigating the problem. I certainly wont cancel my trip about it. Ive gone many times to universal and never used this coupon before, tho I did used to get those great entertainment rates. I think its absolutely wrong of them not to honor it tho. I am not going for a few weeks so maybe there will be a change before then.

Thank you, Linda, for being the voice of reason. It seems that many are angry at Universal when I think the problem lies with AMC theaters not honoring the coupons. I am confident that a solution will be worked out. Cancelling a trip seems a little rash to me. Universal/IoA has a lot more to offer than some meals at Citywalk and a movie. I understand that people are upset/disappointed but throwing out the baby with the bath water isn't going to help solve this. Something must be worked out with AMC and I am sure they are working on this.

If the problem is with AMC then US should honor the dinner part of the coupon. I think that would make people think they are at least trying. I am not that upset, since it was just a super blessing to get the meal and movie, we have gone before without it. But honoring just the meal would at least let people know US cares and maybe underestimated the total cost to them. People are more understanding than you think!

I just got back from 3 days at Universal and we were VERY disappointed to find the coupon not being honoured. We weren't planning on a movie, only a meal, and of the two of us, only one had a coupon, I was willing to pay full price for my dinner. To be told it was a 'misprint' left a sour taste in my mouth, but we didn't let it ruin our fabulous time at Universal/IOA!!!

I am not canceling mine neither, but I am shrinking it to avoid new changes. Sorry phamtom but I am seeing too many changes. Like you said if I go to vacation worring about something is`t better not to do it. So I am going less time to worry for less new changes. I hope you understand what I am saying.

But,If I have to pay 10.00 for parking and 8.00 for a movie, I will see two movies instead of one because fair is fair.(This is in case I hear rumors about fotl changes and I have to stay off site and pay parking.)
A movie does not cost 18.00 dollars!
I also have old cineplex tickets for food, popcorn, and soda, (I have to find them first) but all of them says cineplex, I sure hope they (amc) honor them or give me my money back since those where purchased with cineplex movie tickets. Got to get rid of them before they said it is a misprint! Just joking! Got to get rid of them before they said cineplex was never here! With the money refund I`ll buy food at the theather or if they accept the food tickets I will get AMC food. This is for day 3.

option with the 5 day tickets:
I have also the 2 days tickets that you get from the universal credit card rewards about 7 of them. No need to use my 5 days passes anymore, and not interested in getting the power pass anymore. I will talk to universal guest services about my vacation being change/shrunk because of the meal and movie problem since I do not have to stay more than 3 days anymore to be around citywalk, and will ask universal if I can get refund back for the 5 day passes, save them for a future visit, downgrade them for 2 days, or last option sell them at ebay. This is for day 1, and for day 2.

The things that I have not used and missed this year:
The free movie meal
The free universal ticket with black out dates (I can not use)
The 20off power pass
The parking refund before 6:00 p.m.
The free express passes

Another freebie (movie and meal) taken away from me will not stop me from going to USF or IOA this year. I am kind of getting used to these freebies being taken away from me before I have the chance to use them. Am I cursed? I am just going to make my vacation shorter.

Ohh for the record, I will never forget about the movie meal problem because from the bottom of my heart I STILL think that Universal/
Citywalk/The movie theater SHOULD at least honor the coupon when it is accompanied with the ENT card. The people that were honest and bought the book in good faith, and have the card were NOT supposed to be punished togueter with the people that used these coupons and did not even had the ENT card. This is my last post about the meal and movie deal, I will close this chapter now, I think that I will save money for another next trip this year, money that will be used for around fall, but sorry universal, no power pass, no universal again this year.
I have to go now into my room/closet and look for my old cineplex food tickets for day 3.

We have to pay for fast passing in US/IOA? - since when????? Do you mean front of the lone access or fast passing?

I think they are refering to the Free express pass kiosk in the parks. They got rid of them and now you either have to pay for a booklet of express passes or you get FOTL when you stay on-site.

FOTL is still including if you stay on-site.

For me I got a refund for my online ticket purchase (the rep was very understanding) because of the meal and movie debacle. We were originally planning on staying off disney property for 5 days and doing maybe the halloween party twice and that was it for disney. We were then moving to Universal and staying on site for two nights for 3 days of fotl privileges. We do love the rides at US/IOA!!

The meal and move deal had "sealed the deal" so we could eat hassle-free. These 3 days would have cost my family probably around $700 when it's all said and done ($200 for park tix with 2 adult and 2 kids, a little over $400 for 2 nights at $183 each, and then food for times other than the meal and movie tickets that I have -- I do have the books). Ironically, I don't even care about the movie passes and wouldn't have even used them!

Then...along comes free dining at disney where for $1698 my family can stay at the All Stars for 10 NIGHTS (I know different than the Royal Pacific but my kids are 5 and 4) and get into the parks and pretty much each for free the entire time. We were still planning on going to Universal and would have even paid for 1 night for the fotl access and probably have spent 2 days there (adds about $500 to the trip for tix, 1 night stay, and food beyond the meal and movie pass). But now I don't think we will -- I'm pretty mad regarding there customer service and what I am getting for the value at disney cannot be beat IMO!

Hopefully, they'll change their minds & honor the coupons for those with Ent. cards. Unfortunately, I could see this as a nightmare in the making a few months ago, just by reading the Budget Board. Not to quibble, but I don't think they should have anticipated that 100% of these coupons would be used. Noone should have been able to anticipate that a family from Maine would have a coupon from an Ent. book that was bought for a Cal. city, as well as one from NJ, NV, TX, etc. (you get the idea). If the original owner of the book was the one who always used the coupon, I don't think there would have been a problem in the 1st place. This is no different than the free UO pass we got in the mail. If my family chose to use the free pass, we would need to pay for 2 more admissions. It's still a great deal, if we choose to use it. (We chose not to, because we're going a month too late & staying onsite.) That's our choice. It doesn't take away anything from the great offer. Along this line, a free movie & meal would be a good deal for our family, even if we had to buy 2 others. We'd be paying for 2 meals/ movies & getting a 3rd free. That's an excellent deal in my book. :) Unfortunately, many people see a good deal & won't just be thankful for it & stop there. I'm all for a freebie, & think it's great when anyone gets one, but I also understand that when this freebie is abused they will eventually have to do something. You just really have to hope you get your freebie, before the establishment decides enough is enough. :teeth:

As I said, hopefully those of you with a coupon & book will be able to use the coupons. If you think about it though, buying multiple books benefits Entertainment.com not Universal. This was obviously intended as advertisement to get a family to come to the parks, while using their one coupon for a free movie/meal deal. Ent. gets extra money, UO loses even more. IMHO, if Ent. wants them honored, they should work out a deal with UO that doesn't mean one co. keeps getting more money & one keeps losing it. Sadly, I just see this as one of those rare bad things that can result from so many of us being addicted to this board & finding out info. that can possibly be abused. Not saying they shouldn't honor these, because I think they should as intended. I'm just trying to present another side of the story. :wave2:

I spoke with the Entertainment book people and they did not indicate any agreement had been met. This coupon has been running in the book for at least two years Sorry I don't know how to fancy quote you :confused3

I also registered a complaint. The guy that told me he was a manager at Universal was Phil Marks. He tried to tell me it was a misprint too but I think they are lying. The Enterainment people told me "if it is in the book they should honor the coupon". :sad2:
