I have heard some of you mention awesome rates using the ent book. We are headed down in Feb, President's week, and I was wondering if one could get discounted rates at that time. I also have a current book but it expires in Nov. Would I have to wait till I get my 2008 book to use it?

Any and all info would be GREAT. We orig were going to book a suite at Desert Inn as it is going to be dh and the kids and I which total 5 plus my mom which makes 6. So we need either 2 rooms or a suite and want right on Harbor. Del Sol, BWPPI, Desert Inn etc.

I have used Getaway today or AAA but was wondering if I can score a cheaper rate even with 2 sep rooms using my ent book.

Thanks in advance for any advice or info!

I have never booked a room with entertainment rate. I do recall reading a pp and I think this is how you do it.

I believe that you phone the hotel and ask for the entertainment rate for the dates you want, they will tell you if they have them and the cost.

Then you will have to purchase a new book as you do not give them the entertainment card until check in. Double check this when you phone, but I think you have to get a new book.

The entertainment books themselves are a bit unclear on how to get the best rate. The book and website will recommend that you book through entertainment.com, but you won't get a good rate that way. For the very best rate, you need to call the hotels directly (not the corporate 800 number, but the local number in Anaheim). Ask if they have entertainment book rates for your dates of stay. If they do, you will need the 2008 book for Febuary.

To the best of my knowledge, the HoJo is the hotel that offers these rates most often. I have heard of other Harbor hotels offering them from time to time, but not as often as HoJo. If you look in your Ent. book, it will show which hotels offer the 50% off rack rates. I'd start there.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for the info. Since that is probably going to be a busy week can I book NOW or soon with my current book and just buy the new one in Nov? I don't want to wait till that close and take a chance on the room being booked.

I believe you can book anytime and then when you check in you give them the entertainment card. Most places let you cancel without charge a few days in advance of your reservation. Lots of people book one place and then if they find a better deal book at that place and then cancel the first.

I read a pp that someone enquired on prices for a trip and they never responded to her e-mail questions and when she finally called the prices had gone up.

Just check when you book what the cancellation policy is.

It may be too early to book. I called Desert Inn & Suites for my trip in January and they said their rates for that time aren't out yet and to call back in a month to check.

If you end up getting an entertainment rate from them, let us know!

We booked a hotel in San Diego through the entertainment book rates so I can maybe help provide some insight in to how to book.

We called the hotel we wanted directly at their local number and requested the entertainment books "hotels at half price" rate. They informed us that the rate was only available on certain rooms and advised us to book early.

We booked the hotel right then and there. They asked us for our entertainment card number and advised us we needed to present the card on check in. They also require a credit card to hold the room.

Upon checking in we verified the rate and presented the card along with our credit card we were using to pay for the room. There were no problems whatsoever and we ended up paying a mere $89 a night for a room that was far better than the one we had in Anaheim without using the entertainment book.

We stayed at a Days Inn - but I don't think all Days Inn's accept the entertainment rates. You should have a list in your book.

Good luck!
