Entertainment Book Question

So, if I were to purchase an Entertainment book for Orange County (it's only 15 bucks now that we're to April, and shipping is free) I can use it for the HoJo's $79 deluxe room rate in October, even though I'm actually from WA?

Do I have to specifically purchase the Orange County one to get the HoJo's discount, or do I get the same discount on the hotels all over the country if I purchase the one for my area (Seattle)?

I've purchased Entertainment books before (not this year yet) but never really used the hotel or travel parts.

You can order an Entertainment book for your own area. All you need is the little plastic card that comes with the book to get the Entertainment rate at the HOJO.

You do not have to purchase the Orange County book, you can purchase the Ent. book for your area and still get the discount at the HOJO, all they want to see is your card when you check in.

I don't know about the Seattle one, but mine, South Puget Sound, has $20 of Safeway coupons (one $5 coupon per quarter). Since mine was only $15 when I bought it (if OC's book is 15 right now, what is Seattle's!!???), even before using it at HoJo in May I'm 5 bucks in the black.

I'm still confused as to when the book expires. I've heard it is no good sometime in Nov? Which means I need 2009's for my Dec trip.. so when are those available? I heard September, but then I heard the "end of the year."

I saw that thread. It was kind of funny, if not completely exasperating to those trying to get answers.

The coupons for restaurants in my book state that they are valid through Nov 1, 2008. Aha, the Rules of Use in the back of my book state "the membership card and cojpons are valid now through November 1, 2008, unless otherwise stated on the discount offer."

As I understand it, there isn't much at all for around Disneyland no. We've used it locally quite a bit already, so it's paying for itself.

I'm getting the entertainment book and am wondering if we should get a CA one. We are in MA.

We'll be in San Diego a few days and going to the zoo and sea world, then to lego land in Carlsbad, then to Disney.

I thought I read someplace that there is a book with sea world discount tickets. Is this the San Diego area book?

Any ideas on what CA area book I'd get the most use out of?

My South Puget Sound book has Seaworld and Legoland coupons, as well as Universal *Orlando* coupons. You don't need the OC book for that.

Legoland= $7 off general admission up to 6 people
Seaworld= $5 off admission, or $25 off a "family four-pack of full-priced single-day admissions


Though actually, be SURE to check out the seaworld site thoroughly, b/c they have some incredible deals sometimes (like the year pass, minus 5 days, that we bought in December for the price of a ONE day ticket, or a 2 days for 1 pass...and I hear that being a member of SW's Rapid Rewards (free to join) offers something like a 20% discount off of a one day ticket).

Also would like to add that you can do better for Legoland discounts. I subscribed my son to the Brickmaster club and they sent a free admission ticket (joining the club is cheaper then a one day ticket and he gets 6 sets of legos and magazines for a year). And in the first magazine they sent him there was a buy one get one free admission for Legoland.

I was thinking of doing brickmaster but was holding off in the event there was a package deal. But I looked at citypass and the others and it's not as good of a deal for what we want.

We're only doing 1 day sea world, 1 day zoo, 1 day lego land, and 3 days dis. I'll look into the SW thing...that stands for soutwest right??

If anyone hears of or finds any good deals for 1 day sea world or zoo please feel free to PM me.

Ooh this just hit my brain! There's a site that I heard of while doing a sort of contest about it*, answering questions for a prize, and the site is http://www.gocardusa.com

It seems to be sort of a customizable city pass, where you get admission to any of the included places and tours and such, once a day each, and you buy the number of days you want. They have Legoland and the Zoo on it.

Check it out, compare it to the other deals you find, maybe it'll be a cruddy deal, or maybe it will be good! Hope it's not cruddy now that I mentioned it.



*I add that in so you know I haven't used it, know no one who has used it, and don't know if it's good. I just remembered it b/c of the contest I was doing.

Thanks again! I got the brickmaster club...they are now shipping 1st week of May for anyone who needs to know. It was about $100 total for 2 memberships with tax and shipping. They will also send you the March/April mag with the coupon if you ask. It's a BOGO adult/child.

AAA is 10% off San Diego zoo, and ET book is $4 off. (I decided on the MA ET book to use here this summer.)

Still searching for a good price on 3 days at Dis and a better zoo price.

The zoo is $24.50 regular adult admission, or $34 for one day with unlimited use of the air tram and bus and a bus tour. Anyone know, is it worth it to pay the extra $10 for the buses, air tram, etc.? It will be 2 adults and a 5 and 3.5 yr old.

Will you have strollers? I've forgotten when you're going, will it be warm? Are you guys fit and hearty, or are hills hard?

The zoo is HUGE and hilly, and very very open. Very sweaty. Whenever someone talks about AK at WDW and how it's hotter than the other parks, I think of the SD Zoo b/c it's just so open and hot for most of it.

I think the air thing is like the old gondolas...I don't like that sort of thing, so it wouldn't be worth it for me (though when you're all the way at one side and want to get to the other, and you're hot and tired, it was tempting!) The bus would be helpful if you aren't bringing strollers or have anything keeping you from walking easily for hours.

If I were joining RR and going somewhere quickly I would print the card thing that I remember they show you/email you.


Someday we must go to Legoland, and get that Brickmasters thing!

Thanks bumbershoot. DH and I went to the zoo 8 yrs ago and I can't say I remember it, the buses, or the air tram. Weird huh? We're going end of May beginning of June and won't have strollers..I just posted a while ago whether it was worth getting the disney visa for the free strollers at disney. You can probably tell from my pattern of posts that I'm a cheapskate. My parents would be so proud.

I think we might have to get the more expensive ticket just in case. It's not worth saving money to be miserable.
