Entertainment book & expiry date

I have a 2004 Entertainment book, and of course the card is valid thru 11/1/04.

My question is: can I use the car rental coupons (from the 2004 book) with expiry dates thru the end of 2004 on a car rental for next month, even though the card is only valid thru 11/1/04?

Do they ask to see your membership card?

Has anyone had a problem with this?

I've used them in December in prior years with no problem. I've never been asked for my membership card (never even thought to bring it).
