Ive heard that you can enter through the Grand with out a hotel key if youve had breakfast at the hotel and have the receipt is this true? and if so does any one know if it will be true on the 3rd? Also does anyone know what the procedure is for a ride opening of this magnitude?:confused3

The entrance sign says "exclusive to registered Guests" :scared1:
During my visit in March, room keys were being carefully checked at 9AM. I cannot say if using a receipt worked or not.

I suspect the room key policy will be strictly enforced on June 3, the public opening day for Little Mermaid. Also expect crowds for the press opening on June 2.
Personally, I am going to Disneyland the morning of June 3 for the press and public opening of Star Tours :goodvibes

I guess you really won't know until then, there will be many people trying the same approach.

Perhaps this might be something to call StoryTellers Cafe and ask about directly? I've never tried to use it without my hotel key, but have seen reports about people using their Whitewater Snacks receipts to use the gate, which mid-day when its not crowded makes sense, but not sure about a big opening if they would 'bend' the rules.

I have never been asked for a key at the grand entrance, but keep in mind, that was not before the park openned. We always hit dis in the morning and then head over. But in the afternoon and late morning we have never had a problem.

I've done it likewise, no problems.

However this summer with the new LM might be like last summer when WoC was new. They enforced the guests or dining customer only entry in the morning. Once the WoC ticket distribution calmed down duing late summer, they relaxed the enforcement.
